Finished mine. I opted for a standard 1 1/4 receiver because I don't have to get under the car to insert the receiver.

I am thinking about making these if there is enough interest. If I did the would be about $200 and I would do the first batch as a group buy. I would also need to become a vendor on this forum.

Let me know. The idea of install it and forget it is really appealing to me. If it starts to rust under the bumper, I'll be very disappointed. Stainless is the ideal.

I agree. Still waiting on the water jet quote though so I'll keep you posted on wether or not stainless would be feasible.

If the receiver tube on my hitch were about an inch or so longer it should work just fine with the oem diffuser.

None of the other metal under there is stainless. Regular steel with any sort of decent paint is going to be fine for a longer than most of us will own the car. Stainless material, fab, and welding will likely cost more than simply replacing it once every five or ten years if it did start to rust.

Ya but with the exception that your not sliding a metal post into the steel behind the bumper on a regular basis. Drag some metal across your hood until the paint comes off and tell me how long it takes for it to start to rust...

Stainless may cost double the amount but at least I wont be replacing an unsightly rusty block of metal and removing the back end of my car every 5 years.

If no option for stainless, I'll likely just stick with the bike bars I fabbed myself...out of stainless

A carbon steel trailer hitch is going to rust, with or without powdercoating. I see both sides here. But I've never seen a stainless trailer hitch. I say let it rust. The outside is protected, and 3/16" steel isn't going to rust through, certainly not in 5 years. A hitch using kask's design is completely hidden so it's not going to be an eyesore. And really, even once every 5 years wouldn't be so bad -- my dad and I took the bumper off in about 10 minutes, learning as we went, and once the hitch was fabbed put it back together in about the same.
