Only going from what others have said about the "universal" fitments requiring alterations to bezel or head unit and the DIYs posted of alterations to mounting kits required. This requires no modifications whatsoever if you have a Toyota double DIN stock unit installed already.

The T7019A takes the stock mounts off the side of the stock head unit. Uses the same exact screw holes and then slots in to exactly fit the four corner mounting threads.

Specifies on the headline listing that it is a Toyota fitment and I am simply advising that indeed it is. Others say "universal" and this one says "Toyota universal" so am just assuming it fits better from others experiences.

I can confirm the stock unit (that the T7019A mimics) is 150L x 175W x 88H so I'd say the measurements in the specs on the listing are cut and paste and not actual. The measurements I have done are of the box rather than the face - I assume that's where the measurements are from. Faceplate is 210W x 104H

Also starts up with a big Toyota symbol which is a nice touch.

Hi 2forme

With regard to the original head unit that requires the metra dash kit, Just wondering how u managed to dremel the front inner faces of the dash kit flush and straight with the rest of the kit

I'm afraid I may dremel it leaving a non straight surface which would look pretty bad if I use the sanding drum. How did u achieve a straight and flush end result?

Thanks!

I think I have found one with red LED's.

In the photos it appears you can switch between blue AND red LED buttons lights! It also states that startup is under 15 seconds so I hope this is a 100% Android unit and not one with a WinCE bootmode.

Now I need to find out if this one comes with a capacitive screen or not...

As soon as I have received a reply from the vendor, I'll share the intel...

I actually wanted to try that one out because it looks lik it comes with the best software out of the box, but I'm not sure there's a root solution for it yet.

@2forme, @Narcoden, @sav and anyone else - what do you think is the best available andoid app on the google play store for playing music in the car? Specifically from a USB stick.

The app that came with my head unit is ok but not great. Don't show next tracks etc, the track list doesn't move up or down depending on the track.

So far, I'm going to say PowerAmp. I would have said Rocket Player but it wants to scan my 32gb card every time it loads and music isn't available until it's done. I like the layout of rocket player best but PowerAmp works the best. I have bought and played with a bunch of apps and PA is still my default.

gotta agree with @Narcoden. Power amp is the best one ive used so far. The layout is great, its got awesome EQ settings and once its loaded your library, it stays loaded.

Only gripe i have is with the unit itself. Every time it boots up, i have to wait a few seconds while it "prepares SD card" does everyone have the same issue?

Also, i finally got torque up and running smoothly with the bluetooth adapter that @Narcoden posted a week ago or so, and the usb hub from cables 2 go lets me use my factory usb port again, so i guess aside from wanting to switch the led's to red somehow, im pretty much done with this install.

Yep, mine does a preparing SD card thing too, even though I'm not using one.

Takes about 35s from cold to boot it all up. Don't mind though as that's about the time intakes me to get of of my carpark building or up the small feeder street from my home. And, my original Toyota head unit took a bit of time before the USB music kicked in.

I have a friend @Tech whose business is electronicas and he's going to have a look at some stage at the LEDs to see if they can easily be swapped on my T7019A. I'm looking at orange rather than red though.

Wow! There have been so many updates since I last read this thread. From my quick skim (and forgive me if I've missed stuff), I gather that this is the HU to get:
http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/ptxweb...duct/1274.html

I've narrowed my "must have" list to just 2 items:
  • Fast CPU for a responsive GUI.
  • Capacitive Touch screen (check)
How's the overall feel of this unit? Does it move quickly from function to function?

Regarding the back LEDs, I'm confident I'll be able to change them over (I've changed all the car's backlights already) so if anyone local wants them changed, I'm happy to do so.

Not sure about function etc but for fit that is definitely the one to get. If you have a stock 2-Din unit then unscrew brackets from the sides, screw onto the T7019A, plug stuff in the back (incl USB cable, GPS and ipod cable etc) and put back in the hole - fits perfectly.

Also make sure you have a compatible USB dongle if you want to run torque or carscope. This one works http://dx.com/p/ultra-mini-bluetooth...r-black-146349 and they are on ebay too.

I'm no audiophile so can't vouch for sound quality but seems ok to me.

Just remember, to get torque or carscope working you will need to root it using the instructions and files on post one of this massive thread!

nzer did you have to trim the harness to install the antenna adaptor power cable? The green LED isn't too much of an issue, though it's funny having the Toyota startup logo in a BRZ lol
