Image perception is a massive determining factor in vehicle purchase. If it wasn't, Porsche and Ferrari would go broke.
I didn't see the "poor vs rich" post, but if one car is associated with teenage kids hanging out at night and playing drift kings in an industrial estate, I'd buy the other one. |

Just wait for that one immature brat who has a rich parent who just right off buy him a BRZ limited as a graduation present from HS or for his Birthday. Then... then my good Gents well have a problem on our hands.
I'm gonna go ahead and be honest and just say I can't afford the BRZ if it's over 25k It goes against my set monthly price and I'm not willing to put my self in a struggle in today's Economy. I'll play it safe. But you know if one of you in the future decides eh I want a Limited and is selling your Premium If I haven't jumped on the FRS ship I like to purchase please.... T^T!!!

Naw Zgrinch you're a good member and I say a damn awesome parent, kudos on helping your kids. I grew up in a place where I was seen as a product of poor parenting and was told I belong in a reject bin. I got to where I am today with little help, But that's society for you. stuff happens you move on. Now on the topic of the car thing, I think it's being in the wrong place at the wrong time, because if I recall and I watch the forums often, they were, they like veterans haters hellafail etc. Were flaming people who(is the SCION must die mob) wanted to jack up the price with their wants and not pay for it. and you appeared to try to be a resonable voice but well you know what happened. Those people out weight the people that will pay for it such as yourself, unfortunately that puts you into the small percentage, but I wouldn't feel bad I think your with the good crowd. That's how I see it at least. as for the Scion must die mob well.. they're still going at it in the forum above. Tuff I say

My perspective on price has little to do with the actual financial strength of a given person, and more around the motivation people will have.
On Limited vs Premium, i'd be getting a Premium. There are some nice things in the limited, but I simply don't want leather again, unless it had heated seats, and I don't need that in a second RWD sports car I might change my mind if I found there were Premium owners wanting to swap interiors for leather.

I notice a lot of people listing push button start as one of the reasons for getting the BRZ...Call me old fashion but what the hell is wrong with turning a damn key?

For me, I find the whole push-button start thing useless unless the system allows me to simply leave my keys in my pocket and start the car with the button when in proximity. Otherwise, what's the point? Why go through 80% of the motion by pulling out your keys, putting it in the ignition, turning the key, and THEN stop to push a button elsewhere...?

I just see a lot of "parents who buy their children nice things because it is within their means, means their children are immature spoiled brats" and I hope people understand that not all well-off children are spoiled or immature. I got my first car at 16 after working from age 14 1/2 to 16 and saving everything I earned, paying for it with my own money (a 1992 subaru legacy). When I graduated, my parents bought me a brand new car as a reward for graduating at the top of my class and being accepted to a top 10 school (2002 Subaru WRX). I know plenty of wealthy people who do not teach their children the value of money, but there are some of us that understand that money doesn't grow on trees and respect that fact. On topic though, I like the idea of a car that's lightweight, fun to drive, and has the amenities that I am used to with my DD which is why I am interested in the BRZ Limited - I would've bought a Miata years ago if the looks (or a convertible) appealed to me at all - but I don't have any interest in dropping $50k+ on a "for fun" car. |
