You sorta overlooked the key points about how it aligns with this car's purpose:

"...there is an old-school, tactile feeling... Many manual drivers find the extra level of engagement, well… engaging!"

The rest of the quote (which I omitted in the above) was for context. This is an opinion. It's ok for yours to differ. But the bashing looks a little silly.

The article tried to make driving a manual into something its not, another reason why knowing how to drive a manual is a good idea because if civilization crumbles there won't be any dealerships around to fix an automatic.

Pretty sure when civilization crumbles we'll all have different priorities than trying to keep a sports car running.

I, for one, welcome our new zombie overlords!

Lol I'm sure we will all be wishing we had one of those silent hybrids when the zombies arrive.

Btw I wasn't bashing anyone. and to the jokers. I think we would use large vehicles not silent hybrids.

Get out your owners manual, read how to turn that thing off and really enjoy some fun making your own decisions.
I said for my Dailey driving. Lol I'm well aware of how to turn everything off. I've also gotten 19mpg in a tank of gas..lol I was simply stating that the stick can still be econo friendly...

I'll admit the article is loaded with an enthusiast's bias. Then again... isn't our car?

We'll be just fine in an 86 through the zombie apocalypse. Just replace the other cars and dumpsters in this vid with zombies. BOOM

The auto is a different experience, a manual is a manual in any car.

Sure, i can use the excuse that i drive in traffic every day commuting to school and that i take road trips every month (all true) but that's pointless. I bought the auto because its a good fucking transmission, a lot better then the manual in my view point. The manual doesn't suit this car well to my modern viewpoint because of its lack of power. I didn't buy this car for power, i bought it cause it oversteers like a bitch and its the only modern day car under 30K that can kill me more easy then all the others.

Now can we lock this topic?
not sure if I follow you on this one. i had a 100hp Hyundai Accent with a 5 speed and it was incredibly fun to just bang it through the gears. That car would have been miserable and super boring with an automatic. I don't think the amount of power has much to do with what transmission suites the car more. I'd say a manual trans is way more suited to a sports car and that an auto is probably more suited to an SUV or something.

I learned how to drive a manual because of the FRS/BRZ.

And now I don't want a Manual. It's a little more engaging but in normal day to day driving living in a city, it will drive me insane.

The Auto is a little slower but I look at the BRZ/FRS as an entry level sports car. Whether I get the manual or the Auto, they're both going to be slower than my V6 family sedan. Until I can afford a GT-R... hah.
