I only drive in Chucks, so the heel is a bit sharp, but there's very few shoes that have a curved heel.

The mat hasn't been out of the car yet, but I did give it it's first vacuum today (6 days of ownership). Didn't do much to fix it.

My dealer offers a free 1000km check-up and seeing as I am very close to that now I may pop by and complain while they check things over.

While I like the looks of those Monster Mats 2 things held me back: The price in Aus and the fact that there are front and rear; I only wanted front.
After much searching I found a site that ships these to Aus. I have ordered these in black http://www.carid.com/2013-subaru-brz...ts-161232.html
from here: http://www.carid.com/2013-subaru-brz-floor-mats/
Many choices of style, colour, f&r or fronts only.
I will post pics when they arrive.

Will the US passenger mat fit properly to our drivers side? Also do you know if the mat comes with the plastic hole that is used to hold it in place?

Ahhhhh... I did not consider that :/ Mmmmm... interesting question. Having given it about 2 minutes thought on waking just now I don't think it should make a difference ; there is no reinforcement for one's heels under the pedals. I might have to perform surgery.
I do not know about the hole situation either but I seem to remember reading somewhere (could be false memory) that the mats are held in place by the rubber backing.

Oh well, seemed like a good idea at the time lol. I will post pics once they arrive but I can't tell you about fitment for another couple of months. (wooooo!!)

Different car, but I have the same issue with my Clio. I wear business shoes every day with a hard heel. Thinking about wearing my tigers to work and changing there.

Got the same issue. I wear thongs while driving or barefoot. Put shoes on when I get to work.

I always take my shoes off, drive only in socks or bear feat.

I noticed the mats wearing at 1000km which blew me away given I never have shoes on.

I'm up to 9000 and the wear doesn't seem to getting much worse which is positive.

Drivers heel pad - simple solution to make a heel pad for the drivers stock mat that looks fantastic as below for about $15 in total.

One of our 86 club members here in New Zealand, Peter Sullivan, who is not a member of this forum came up with this brilliant solution and has given me permission to share his DIY writeup with you all.

From Peter:

I purchased a rubber door mat from "The Warehouse" (this is our cheap general purpose big box store like walmart in the USA) for $9.99 and this was sufficient to make 6 heel pads for the 86 drivers mat. It has raised ridges one side and is PERFECTLY SMOOTH on the other - This is important. The backing needs to be smooth without any dimples or non-slip bits. TIP - have a look at the household rubber mats section of the store rather than rubber car mats as most of the rubber car mats will have dimples etc - the household mats won't.

From this I cut a piece measuring 250mm by 150mm using sharp knife. To cut the corners I used an NZ 10 cent piece - the same as an Australian 10 cent piece and similar to a dime in the USA. Use a bigger coin if you want rounder corners and of course feel free to cut into any shape - I just did a simple rectangle.

All the marking and cutting was performed on the smooth side of the rubber.

Velcro is extremely good at attaching itself to carpet fibres as shown in this photo. There is only about 60mm of the "hook" side of the Velcro in contact with the carpet, and yet it is strong enough to suspend the whole carpet in the air.

The Velcro hook is 50mm wide with a self adhesive backing.

Thoroughly clean the smooth side of the rubber with Mentholated sprits to remove any dirt or grease.

Peel off the backing and attach the Velcro. Press firmly on the Velcro for at least 25 seconds. This will give the best adhesion, being a contact glue.

Job done, and it can be moved or removed at any time, but it won't slip underfoot. Thanks Peter!!!

Oh my..... I was thinking to use a clear chair mat to DIY the heel pad like above but decided to buy a Monster heel pad instead, just could not resist

Using Velcro is a brilliant idea and I have to agree that above method is the most effective yet easy way to fix the problem!

My heel pad is posted from Japan on 28//12/12 and I guess it will be arrived sometime next week, I will post some pics once I install it.

Lloyd mats turned up today. I am happy with the construction but I still don't know if my buy was a success or fail. Maybe someone could comment. That is , I purchased them from a U.S. site and I don't know if they will be suitable for rhd.

They do.
Looks to me like they won't fit as the angles on the drivers/passengers side are different and they are not really interchangeable.

The post just above yours has the picture of my drivers side RHD mat. You can see the angles are cut the opposite way.

They may fit but not as nicely as the OEM or other JDM specific (ie: RHD) ones.

But you never know - have you not got your car yet?
