Drivers mat wearing out

Have you chaps in Oz got a "wear pad" on the drivers mat?

In NZ it is just carpet and we have noticed that where the drivers accelerator/brake heel is planted is wearing really fast - scuffed up after around 2,500km quite badly.

Toyota is replacing under warranty but we have been told they have not heard of this before. If your mats are the same as ours I can't believe no-one has reported this issue.

And, yes, I did :search: but found nothing :D

EDIT: A mate here in NZ has got a DIY drivers heel pad that cost only $15 for all the materials - and it is here for you all - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25376

My BRZ ones are going quick too. Didn't even think to mention it to the dealer!

proficience 12-02-2012 08:04 PM

Yep mine was gone really early as well. Didn't think they'd replace it under warranty though lol...

meh... beatrush have an aluminium floor thing that I'll be looking to get soon.

Surok 12-02-2012 08:15 PM

ill just get the carbing heelplate or the beatrush heel plate. and save my mats for when i sell the car

+1 BRZ ones are wearing out quickly as well. Might bring it up with as well, when I drop the car in to get the rear light tail light replaced (condensation).

When you say they are wearing out, is it like the heel/ball of your foot doing it? i was cleaning my car and i noticed the area where my heel rests when accelerating, the mat was all compressed and mushed (if this makes any sense)

Surok 12-02-2012 09:09 PM

yeah thats what happens. some cars have carbon heel plates in the mat to rest your heel on.

so the fact the mats get 'mushed' is enough for a warranty claim and is not considered wear and tear?

omgwtfbbqsauce 12-02-2012 09:31 PM

Yeah my mats are pretty mushed up i dont think its a warranty claim though boys

ive had my car 4 months and its wearing through...

you'd expect that after several years... not several months.
