Try changing brands. Certain brands are almost guaranteed to wake my crickets. For me, the gas at Sam's Club does it every time.
Additionally, you can't go by what brands other people on this board use unless they live in your area. Gas blends are different around the country, and seasonal blends get switched out at different times depending on your local climate. I have good luck with Shell where I am now, but someone halfway across the country may get crickets from it because it's not the same gas I'm buying. It didn't help mine. Three different stations. If anything, it made the crickets worse. |

I get crickets from time to time. Only run E85 and always fill up at the same Shell station. I think perhaps around the time they switch the seasonal blend is when I get them (August-October)

I understood "what's a squeaking accessory" belt, but you post me with the "at home" part.
By "squeaking accessory belt" I mean the serpentine belt (or accessory belt or whatever you want to call it) that spins the water pump, alternator, etc. Usually it'll squeak if oil gets on it, the bearings for the tensioner/idler puleys are going bad, etc. |

We know it's the fuel injection system, and we know there's not a whole lot you can do to fix it, although new fuel pumps and higher quality fuel tend to mediate the problem, temporarily. In the end, it's just a quirk of direct injection, there's nothing bad about it, it does no harm, end of discussion. It's just an inconvenient noise, as some people see exhaust noise. |
