I'm guessing this car is Push To Start based on his "will only go to acc" comment? My car is regular key, so I'm not 100% on your PTS procedure, but when the battery in the fob dies, where does the owners manual say to hold it to get the car to start with a dead fob battery? That is what I would try...

I think that if the voltage is so low that the ECU does not have the number in its lookup tables, it won't even attempt to start. |

I have a key to put in to start it. Wish it was push start. Would've been a nice touch but I didn't get it with one |

They are usually passive chips ie even if battery is flat in key it will still work, the battery just powers the bush button lock,,\unlock. If neither key get the key symbol on dash to turn green the car is not going to start as security is still active. |

Ok. So it is still not starting? What exactly happens? When you turn the key to crank do all of the gauge lights and everything drop out or stay on and bright? No crank at all right? I deal with tons of "no start" issues at work with bypass modules locking up or adding remote starts to integrate with factory immobilizers. With a multimeter and 10 minutes I'm sure I could tell you what is going on with it. If only you were near Chicago

You've tried both keys. Also random question, but you don't have any other random keys on that key ring that have chips do you? Mostly a Toyota issue I have seen, but other car manufacturers keys sometimes have stronger RFID that are sending out their signal and in worst case scenarios the car sees that other chip and freaks out. Normally not an issue, but I have tried to program a bypass module before and the car didn't like it because of a benz and ford key on the same ring.
You said you had a turbo installed? What are you doing for electronics/fuel management? |
