. Before I turned 25, I think I was paying 180 for the maxima. Before the maxima, I was paying close to 230 on altima. That's all in KW, if I was in TO, I'd be paying more. Btw, I don't think cheaper/older car necessarily means cheaper insurance.Keep it clean and it will come. I know its a long ass time to wait, but it will come. |

serious reduction my ASS
the last 3-4 years have been all about rising insurance rates because the industry that operates on a social benefit underlining is greedy for 7 figure profits and is too lazy to battle frivolous claims and general fraud. I got no reduction at 25 I got no reduction from being married I have a clean record my brokers simply shrug their shoulders and say that "your residence zone is priced at blah blah blah" the only way to get cheap rates is to move to butt-fuck nowhere northern quebec and live with moose and sealions.

Well, that just has been my experience and it differs from yours I guess. I have good relationship with my insurance and when I did not like what they gave me, I called and talked, they were reasonable to me.
I never switched insurances, been with them since 04. I first got insured when living with parents (going to university), then I got married, bought a place, moved out and tried to see if there are better rates. Dad's friend is an insurance broker and he could not find anything that even compares. So I guess it varies. |

if you're car is registred in Kitchener then you get a major break than the rest of us. because not only do we have more crashes and thefts, but the majority of the fraud also happens within the GTA. Finding crooked clinics, injury lawyers and body shops is probably harder in Kitchener than the GTA. we have whole rings here, lawyers chase down small accident victims and tell them that they could profit big, then they recomend a doctor and a body shop, etc etc. new immigrants often get caught in this as well, "hey, want to scam your insurance company for big MONEY, i know it was your fault that you T-Boned that old lady but lets milk the system for everything we've got, we'll say that the old lady flashed you so you lost control, that sprained ankle is actually a broken spine and you can no longer work at your 10 dollar an hour pizza pizza job for the next, ohh i don't know, 100 years and we'll get the insurance company to pay out, NO PROBLEM" :/

I'd estimate we pay about a 30% premium for the "pleasure" of living in the GTA.

I just wanted to add my two cents, I'm 26, clean record and I got a quote for the BRZ at Alberta Motor Association (AMA).
2 Million Liability, 500 deductible, glass coverage, car rental in case of accident, full amount of new car if accident occurs in first three years. $1094 a year. I think this is the few things I enjoy about getting old...

just called Desjardins, was quoted 2300 per year or 192 per month for same coverage. Much better and more in-line with what i expected.
