Back on topic.
Here's my take on this. I've stated this to my friends in FB, but sports/sporty car sale plunge is usual thing. Miata, STI, Mustang, Camero, Z & so on. That's why every 2~3 yrs, they have facelift to bring the sales up again. FYI, FRS/BRZ/GT86 weren't meant to be mass production like Civic, Corolla, Focus & so on. Tada-san (Chief Engineer of this car JIC somebody didn't know) stated that first year of the sale when world wide ppl were complaining that FHI weren't making fast enough. Current slow sales make up for all the extra sales happened on first yr. FYI all those article bout plunge & so on is just auto bloggers want everyone's clicks/views. Just like yr before twins came out, all those article bout turbo this, AWD that, Toyota only get turbo this, Subaru get turbo & AWD that. When you get to the source, they got it from here in the forum bout members wish list. One of us trolled & said FT86 will come out twin turbo w over 350hp... & I can't say which retarded auto blogger took it seriously & posted on their site, but I can tell you, it was funniest thing (sadly they took it down next day). Anyways, all the articles you read, did they interview President Akio Toyoda?Speaker for FHI? Or even Tada-san? Nope, nothing. Both Toyota & Subaru stated there will be next gen twins (you can search that easily on the Google). Can't say "when" but facelift & few extra goodies is on the way... I think, I've spilled too much info here. Now, let me ask you guys this. Do you guys really buy this car cuz auto blogger said this & that? Cuz let's face it, our car isn't great on the sheet of paper. There were something outside of "numbers" that made you guys buy the twins. Maybe the looks, balance, dynamic of this car, low CoG or whatever it is. So why now taking these article like a bible? Cuz I don't care what auto blogger gotta say. I don't care if they keep continuing or discontinuing. I bought one already & every time I drive it, gives me a huge smile, that's all it matters to me. What do I care bout nay sayer, it's my damn car & I love it! Rather spend driving on the canyon or race at the track having fun than sit on my ass reading these pointless articles |

All of that!^
I have said almost the exact same things many, many times when people throw these bait click articles on here and claim them as "fact". Having worked in mid/upper management positions I the auto industry for almost 30 years I know exactly how long all these unnamed "insiders" that get "quoted" would last in the real world if they kept leaking "facts". Start revealing secrets and they would never get a job in the industry again! These bloggers distort facts, mis quote and just flat out make shit up and then the rest just run with it. I have come across articles that have quoted posts from this very forum almost word for word and claimed it was a reliable source. Just imagine if they took SBFs "facts" as reality and formed an article on that!

Why Scion FR-S Sales Have Plunged
An extra 50hp and 50ft-lb of torque will still be down on paper against an Ecoboost Mustang and the car would be more expensive. The only way to significantly broaden appeal is make it bigger. And F that noise.
Why is everyone so concerned about the car selling a lot more anyway? Do you want to see a few every time you go out like I do when I drive the family RAV4? I literally see a white limited like ours almost every time we drive somewhere 15 miles away. As long as Toyota and Subaru are selling enough to keep the project viable, I'm happy. And no one knows what that number is. It could very well be 1500 units a month between the BRZ and the FR-S in the US. We don't know. No reason to get wrapped around the axle about it. |

Selling more will help make a case for allocating more to the platform and possibly can make special editions.

When I got my 03 it was one of the very first Lancers brought into Canada, was very rare and turned heads all the time. Just4 years later you couldn't walk through a parking lot without tripping over one and they just blended in with each other.

Meh, I got my FRS and I'm happy with it. If they don't continue making the twins in the future, so be it.

Sounds a lot better to me than having a one off sports car that died in ~5 years like every other RWD Toyota built in the last 30 years, scrounging for parts and watching all the good ones get balled up or clapped out. |

totally right about wanting parts though. people that need a car to be unique moreso than need it to be fun to drive are silly to me. while i doubt it will have the culture of a miata or mustang, i hope it fairs as well as a 240 or something.

The hp wars are a wet dream for the automotive blogging industry. In the real world which we all live in...this focus on so much power to me is an utter waste. My biggest problem with Mustang GTs and its ilk...yes its a great performance bargain but if you DD the car...despite the bargain if you never use this performance...isn't that a utter waste? After driving them several times I concluded it was really silly for me to ever own one of these really high hp/torque cars.
Enter this car. I always wanted a driver's car and amazingly it just happened to be a Subaru-Toyota joint venture the two auto companies I respect greatly. After a drive in this car I realized, its got enough power especially for a DD. Its also got enough power to be fun in many real world scenarios. The driving experience is undiluted and its clear the car was for a proper auto enthusiast because all the things that truly matter in driving were addressed. It'll never win on numbers, if numbers get your fancy buy a physics textbook, this car's job is to win your heart and it did mine. |

We wont have to worry about as much about parts availability within the next ten years.
3D printing will help a lot for non metallic components. |
