drive-by-wire delete
has anyone successfully converted to a cable-throttle yet? i switched from a 03 wrx to the brz for many reasons, one of the reasons being better throttle response.. but boy was I wrong.. I really really miss the throttle cable feel vs the drive-by-wire that the brz has. i mean, the FA engine is far superior than that of the EJ, but the throttle response is killing it for me. looks like the only remedy is a lighter flywheel at the moment... maybe a good tune would help.. I would cough up a large amount of money to get a throttle cable on my car.. really... it's a shame because I love the chassis and the balance of the car so much.. even the electric steering isnt all that bad in my books; but the lack of response in the throttle.. that is a problem. who would`ve thought the turbo awd sedan has better feel because of the cable..

Just get a tune. Throttle by wire has a delay built in to the maps for emission purposes, the tunes all remove that in favor of better feel.

a lighter flywheel doesn't help much. still feels like the first 1/4 of the pedal travel is 'dead'. you need to reprogram the ecu to create a more linear throttle.

There's a difference between throttle response and how linear the pedal is... throttle response is how the engine reacts to pedal input anywhere in the travel.
Anywhere off idle the response is great, the engine reacts very quick to throttle modulation at part throttle. The only time it's really sluggish is from idle.

Heard several people like the throttle controller. A tune cleared up all of the throttle response issues I was having though, fwiw.

Never had one snap, but the tension does need to be adjusted every so often. Of course having IACVs also sucks and DBW throttles are better in that respect. I just don't think electronics can give you the feeling of a mechanical link, yet.
