Noise Generator Delete for $10.00

All -

Since it is a 104F degree heat as well as high humidity here in Illinois, I had to replace my aftermarket intake back to stock due to receiving P1071 A/F codes because of the humidity.

Instead of re-installing the noise generator with the stock intake, I put together my own delete from a few parts I picked up at Autozone for less than $10.00.

The fruits of my labor are shown in pictures below:

Cleans up the engine bay & gets rid of the annoying intake rasp (i.e. makes car sound better).

What I've been trying to figure out is: does this hurt anything (engine, performance, whatever) in anyway?

Does not hurt anything. Simply removes the sound pumped into the cabin.

What did you do for the other end, near the firewall or at the firewall?

had an amusing idea, to plumb the noise generator to the outside of the vehicle, say behind the front bumper :P

wonder what it would sound like

There is a thread that shows removing the sound generator looses one HP. Just FYI to all people asking if there was any difference.

Edit: Here it is.

Looks good thanks for the pics and references. Has anyone removed the resonator on the left side of the air box? That could be plugged and more of the engine bay cleaned up.

Which intake system did you have that created the P1071 Code? That is the important question.

That should be addressed as getting that code is NOT a good thing at ALL!!!
P1071 code means the system is running too lean, lean always means bad news coming sooner than later.

*gasp* The intake rasp sounds great! But great solution if you're into the quiet thing.

I cant see how it would lose HP. It doesn't go into intake manifold but rather dead ends.
