Directional tires installed the wrong way
Hey guys, I recently just came out of a service at my local Toyota and when I was driving home I noticed the car wanted to keep pulling left. Now it didn't do this before the service and I noticed on the service statement it mentioned the tires were installed the wrong way. Now I have a 2017 86 with only 15,000km on it.
My question is if the tires were installed incorrectly and then corrected, will the tires tend to pull? I have been driving on them for about 4-5 months. Will the tires go back to driving straight or is there another issue? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

Directional tires usually "wander" around if they are installed backwards. And this usually causes cupping or some sort of weird unwanted tire wear if not corrected right away. After the tire is damaged from running it backwards; I highly doubt that just flipping it around will fix everything. Also, pictures would help...

Flip them left to right on the car and the problem of them being backwards is solved...
That said, running them in reverse shouldn't cause any damage. Most tires grip in the dry just as well forwards or backwards and won't be damaged. Direction really matters for water evacuation or snow traction. Lots of guys will run tires backwards in the dry on tracks to even out wear from more turns in a single direction (ie left side tires wearing out faster because of more right turns).
