I've got the same thing, it happens at freeway speeds while feathering the gas. No throttle and the noise goes away. I drive 60 miles a day (at least) on the highway, so it's annoying.

Unless you plan on swapping the steering column, this won't be an issue in a Twin. The electric power steering is integral to the column, so you'd use that and ditch the accessory off the motor.
