Vandalism! Rocks had been thrown!
Some JERK threw a rock at my car at Christmas Eve. The result, less than an inch scratch near the middle of the trunk and two seperate small scratches on the back windshield. The scratch on the trunk was deep and has a dent. I went to a PDR guy to pop the dent out and he did a great job. I thought I could fix it with just a touch up paint but i noticed that the clear coat around the scratch was cut pretty deep too and it wouldn't be buffed out even after the touch up. Went to a body shop and they told me they can spot repair the scratch. They will have to sand down the small area around the scratch, put primer, base coat just on the small portion, and reclear the whole trunk. They will have to remove the frs badge and replace it. Since the dent was popped out I think there is no need of that nasty
bondo stuff. What do you guys think? Is this all needed to repair just a tiny scratch? I'm worried bout rusting so i might wanna have this fixed properly. Last edited by pLaydEad86; 01-07-2016 at 11:52 PM. |

Doubt they would have to respray the whole trunk. I think they wanna take you for a ride.
Check this video out, yeah it's time consuming but it might be a solution for you. http://www.ammonyc.com/detailing/paint-chip-touch-up/

I don't know how reasonable the price is but the way you described the fix is how I would want it done.

$250 seems fair to me for what they said the are going to do. I hope you threw a bigger rock back at the guy that did it!

normal pricing, close to what we would charge. process is correct. blend out basecoat then the full panel has to be cleared.

DANG, there, @pLaydEad86 ....... I would just hit it with a dab of touch up paint, then wax over it ....... and call it good ......
I'll betcha you're the only one who notices it ........ and just how much time do you spend looking at your car's rear deck lid ....... ?? humfrz |
