ACE header and OFT
With in the next year I plan on getting an ACE type 1 or 2. I have a OFT and was wondering how well the stage2 EL 91 or 93 tune does with it?

It will probably do OK. If you're spending the money on what is most likely the "holy grail" of headers for the twins, it's worth it to either get a custom e-tune done by Shiv, or ante up and get ECUTek and a dyno tune. Really depends on how much you want to spend on top of the header.

I wouldn't recommend an Ace if you're going to use a OTS tune. Likewise, if you get the Ace, I wouldn't recommend using an OTS tune.
I've seen some OTS tune disagree with the Ace header so much that a chasm of 109wtq was recorded on the dyno. The Ace header's flow is so different from the other headers on the market that a tune is mandatory to really take advantage of the header. CSG is in the process of creating "off the shelf" tunes for the Ace header, for common configurations. - Stock drivetrain w/ Ace header (any catback) (gasoline and Flex Fuel) - Stock drivetrain w/ Ace header + Ace FP (any catback) (gasoline and Flex Fuel) - JRSC w/ Ace header + Ace FP (gasoline) - JRSC w/ Ace header + Ace FP + Injectors (gasoline + flex fuel) - Edelbrock w/ Ace header + Ace FP + Injectors (gasoline + Flex Fuel) There is no ETA on these tunes; they are ready when they are ready. Each tune is being extensively tested in a variety of conditions to get the best possible long term reliability. |

When I first got my ACE header, I loaded up the Stage 2 EL tune. It's already been said, but this does not take advantage of the full potential of the header. If you are looking to just flash a map and be done, then using an OFT map is not for you. I would recommend going ECUtek and getting a flash from someone who has developed one for the ACE. IF you are comfortable with making adjustments in your tune, then an OFT OTS map is a good starting point. There are VVT tables posted on this forum for use with the ACE, and can be tweaked even further. You can also play with some base timing in the stage 2 map and get a few extra horsepower. The simple answer is, if you want to tune yourself, give the OFT a try. If that's not something that interests you, you are better suited with ECUtek. |

You can use any tune, you just need to find a tuner willing to figure out VVT tables for the header if you want optimal flow. This may be tricky with OFT because many tuners refuse to work with unlocked tunes.

There's other people that sell unlocked tunes as well, on EcuTek.

I'm not saying there isnt, but I can count the number of Ecutek tuners offering unlocked roms on one finger (to my knowledge). If you know anyone other than jamesm (who doesn't etune anymore) please feel free to share them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are actually custom specific tunes for the ACE Header for the past few months for daily driving and track. We should be releasing these in the very near future.
