Draining the fuel tank - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hi there thought that I should drain out all the e85, now that the car djust sitting ther in build season.
So I thought that I could djust plug a battery direct too the fuel pump and draining it out whit the fuel line.
But does anyone know witch of the four is the blue and black line for + and - on the fuel pump from the top of the casings?
Djust to tiered to open up the unit to check for myself

Even if you used pump to drain their will probably be a few litres left in tank.

Modern fuel systems are pretty well sealed so would be very difficult for air or moisture to enter system if fuel system is not pulled apart or tank cap left off.

The e85 should be fine if its in a sealed enviroment, maybe add some Ethanol fuel stabilser although the only guy who had problems with his fuel filter was running additives apararantly.

If it left sealed it shoul be fine for months.

Someone mentioned to me to just pull a fuel line from the engine bay. Turn on the car (NOT THE ENGINE!) and let the fuel pump prime and pump all the fuel out. Not sure if it is a good idea though, maybe someone else can give input on this idea.

Did you check the bottom of the tank for drain plug(s)?

Want to drain, because the Swedish E85 kludge up the injectors if it's sitting for a while

It gets too a pink/purple much because off the color adaptive that makes the E85 pink in color.

That was the first things I did try, and fuel pump cuts the power if it's not building pressure

Only getting out a bout a deciliter at the time, and that's gone take me several hours to drain.

Just open the cap on both sides and siphon it out.

Sometimes, doing it the oldschool way is the easiest

Or, let it idle until it stalls.

No I haven't, but I doubt that I have one, plastic thanks don't have it for most times.

That a good point your may have extra additive for low temps and colour ect. The E85 I use is clear.

maybe might be best to run tank down / fill with petrol and flash petrol tune for winter ??

Exactly what I'm planning to do

Run some good old plain 98 octane through everything.

The one in the pic you posted. Turn counter clockwise, and the assembly comes out, and you can access the inside of the tank.

Wouldn't it be just as easy to run a 1/4 of 93 through it till the gas light kicked on. Should be gone by then? Or is it me being half asleep and everything seems to work simpler
