Another ABS and Trac control thread..

I've searched and haven't found a 100 percent solution, Heres my story

Did my clutch, Did my fourth brake light kit drove car for a month or so...ended up having to drop my trans again..finally start driving car again, and boom abs and trac light come on after about 20 minutes of driving. So I pulled the code and the code is that code that Subaru list for the brake light switch TSB, So I googled it and started seeing all these guys having issues with 4th brake lights and abs and trac lights.

Which made me decide hey maybe its the flasher, so I disconnect the flasher and add the ground to the chassis rather then the tail light harness, I tapped into my valenti driver side tail light for the power source on the brake light kit. I guess my next step is to disconnect it completely and try from there, I really like the 4th brake light/rear fog set up And was wondering if anyone has gotten around all this crap.

Car is a 2014 limited if that matters/helps.

Thank you for any input.

which brake light kit did you get? I did a chassis ground on mine and tapped into the taillights for power and haven't had any problems so far (been about 4-5 months)

Sounds like one of the features of the bcu is to measure the current in the various light circuits. When you add a light that increases the current in the circuit and the bcu declares a fault. The perfect solution would be a solid state switch (FET switch) that would be triggered by the brake lights being activated but would pull no current from the brake light circuit. The FET switch would then turn on the extra lights using a dedicated +12v from the fuse panel. Of course you would want to pull a dedicated wire.

Welp haven't gotten a chance to touch it yet. but what i did figure out is the lights appear only when the headlights get turned on..so its gotta be something to do with the 4th brake light as thats wired as a running light also.

Will keep this updated for future people.

This happened with the kit I have. After talking withe the vendor I had to switch out the led bulb that came with it to a regular 3157 bulb and no more lights.

I unhooked the light an i am problem free now. Maybe it was the led. However the led fell out during my aggresive uninstall... and is sitting in the light now. Fml
