Easy fix or Totaled?
I had an incident with the front bumper now I have this gap. The cover is fully inserted, seems to be the backing mount is no longer in the right place. Any experience in a remedy for this? Sorry for rotated image.

May be best to pull the bumper completely and see what is up. I haven't done it but understand it is pretty easy.

No, the clips are still there and latched. But the latching position has changed.

I have the same problem in mine, the bumper has a gap there now. I was told i could fix it by buying new bracket (the ones that are behind that spot). It's $4 for one straight from subaru. The clips are plastic so once the bumper is pulled off, the plastic becomes kind of shaved so it doesn't latch onto the bumper as it would when it is first put on. I don't know if all that made sense but listen to the above advice and take off the bumper to see whats under there. This might make more sense when you're looking at it. I got the new brackets just haven't had a chance to put them on yet.

The fix is easy. Take off the bumper, make sure all the bolts are in, then under the headlight housing on the side, there's a very small hole. There's a part under the bumper holder/headlight holder that plugs into that hole. Gap fixed. Just look around and you'll find it.

There is a French GT86 forum where they have a sticky and video to fix this. The solution they use is to effectively wrap some duct tape inside the connection point to add a little thickness which might be wearing off during removal, and alight everything as if original.
The fix seemed super easy, will see if I can find it. I would probably buy the $4 clips and just replace them. Great way to learn. |
