First time FRS build looking for advice/ideas
What’s up guys. I currently drive a 2013 scion FRS and am located in Maryland. I’m ready to start doing some modifications and figured I would start with upgrading the suspension. I know there are several brand options and would love any insight into the best options and why. All feedback would be awesome and hopefully you all can help me as I begin this journey!!!

I hear good things about Fortune Auto coilovers if you're going on a budget.

I have heard good things about them as well but they have a lot of different options from what I can see I guess for a mostly road use car and show car it would make sense to go with the 500's?

Now I'm actually the wrong guy to ask. I don't have coilovers so I don't know which are best. Sorry.

Are you looking for performance, or are you just trying to go low and look good parked? They're different goals, so asking for "best options" is pretty open ended, and depends on your budget.
There's already a thread on some of the major choices: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8739 And a subforum: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=59 |

Oh, you should look into Racecomp Engineering. They're in Hanover and they have their own line of coilovers manufactured for them by KW, and they have some lowering spring options. They're on the forums, too.

I am looking to change out Bushings and control arms and such as well. I will definitely check them out. Do you have any recommendations when it comes to the bushings, sway bars, and control arms?

I think after you've settled on a ride height and damping level, you should do sways. It's a last step thing, and you may not need to be too drastic about it. |

Suspension would be a good investment, but unless you're tracking/AutoX the car, or trying to get l0w for style, there's other investments to be had. The stock suspension is 'okay', good enough for DD. Given stock ride height is 4.9in, I think it sits low enough. I just wish it filled the wheel well more.
You could invest into 'performance', per say. Headers/Front Pipe/Cat-Back are all good viable options. Headers are the most bang per buck, front pipe is the most restrictive part of the car. Given we're in MD, you will "need" a cat in the front pipe, can go catless headers + get a tune. You could also do an E85 kit from Delicious Tuning (Cali-based, eTuning)/Moto-East if you want a local master tuner, located in PA. E85 helps take the torque dip out of 4th gear, paired with a tune, gain a bit of HP/Trq. Or you could do body mods and make her look good, aero, etc. Up to you suppose. |

I have considered doing performance mods first when it comes to power and everything but until something really grabs my eye I enjoy the gas mileage I get with the car how it is but down the road higher performance modifications will be done. |
