Muffler suggestion for single exit exhaust

I'm on my second Magnaflow straight through muffler (It is center/off-set, 2.5" in/out, 5x8 oval,18" body). They have been quiet and legal when new but haven't taken long for them to start getting louder. Now, I enjoy the extra volume but I am wanting to keep things quiet-ish so as to not upset police or neighbours. (Wot through a tunnel sounds freakin' awesome!)

Given the temporary nature of the packing I am considering a chambered muffler. After researching I haven't been able to find any concrete information as to dB or performance characteristics.

Any advice, suggestions, recommendations would be appreciated.

Baffled mufflers are like a stock design, and usually flow pretty bad when compared to a straight through muffler with packing material. Look into flowmaster which is popular with the V8 American muscle crowd. I would suggest something like a resonator in the front pipe/midpipe area or a helmholtz resonator. Fooling with the rear muffler and trying to get the alignment for the tips can be a headache. A resonator would be much easier to install.

We're working on a "Laguna Special", but it won't be cheap, and we have no ETA at the moment.

Design goals are:

- under 90DB at about 50 ft behind the car, WITHOUT cats, WITH a supercharger
- Fill the space the OEM muffler uses

Awesome! I love that idea. Right now I'm running Header to stock and I really like my quiet when I'm not on it. I'd like to open things up more, but finish with a good high flow but quiet rear muffler

Ours would be at an extreme to be quiet, but without any power losses; we know it can be done

It would, literally, be as quiet as a stock car, but support substantially more flow, and not rattle without cats.

Can you tell me/us what style of muffler it will be? That is, will it be straight through or chambered? With or with-out glass packing?

Chambered, no packing. We want this to be a permanent solution.
