Scan Gauge

I finished setting up my new "Scan Gauge" today. Now reading RPM, Engine oil temp, Engine water temp, and Automatic tranny fluid temp. Not bad for 170 bucks. It just plugs into the ECU port and will read all sorts of stuff, plus engine codes.

Torque and a dongle will do all that and more. Carista will let you clear codes as well as change a few of the car options. I can see the usefulness of a stand-alone doodad but they need far more options to be worth it.

ETA: Did you catch the dude who drove a screw into the faceplate of the head unit? I had to google that. Is that screw stock?

Looks like a CD slot mount for a smart phone or GPS ...... it was "shaking" so he screwed it to the faceplate of his radio screen .......

Scan Gauge will let you clear codes as well. I have one and used it to clear codes on my previous car and friend's cars (of course after reading to see what the problem was). I also use it to maximize mpg.

What X code did you input to get your transmission temperature?

I used the ones I found on line on the scan gauge website but get nothing.

The oil temperature X gauge works great.

Thanks

I've been using one for a couple years now, primarily for oil and coolant temps. Waiting for a specific car to become available, then the stereo makes way for a proper guage cluster.

I don't remember. I was on the phone with Scan Gauge for an hour plugging in different codes until we got one that worked.

Torque will let you clear codes, and it costs less than $30 with a bluetooth adapter. I have added a few more gauges since this pic was taken.:

It also has a page for emissions readiness for people in nanny states:

It can also log your speed and GPS location. You can customize the gauge layout and style. It also uses the phone's accelerometer to tell you how many Gs you're pulling. It can also track 0-60 times. It has gauges for horsepower and torque, but I have no idea how accurate the engine computer's measurement of that is. Plus, when you read codes with it, you can tap them to search on the internet for information about them right on your device's screen.

Plus it looks a helluva lot better. Did I mention it's less than $30?

All good if you don't mind using your phone. I'm just not the type that does. Plus, I've had my SG before that or even the Ultra Gauge came out.

You can get hp from the SG, although I won't trust it since it said my Yaris had over 200 hp. I wouldn't trust anything other than a dyno to show me hp.

I like that mounting point. Aeroforce actually has a scan gauge (Interceptor CNE) for the FRS/BRZ that has interchangeable faceplates that will match just about any FRS/BRZ interior.
