My first unplanned donut!

So I was getting some takeout sushi and waiting at a light to make a left u-turn and then immediate right going into their parking lot.
I had the traction control all off, to get a better feel for what it does, and input a little too much gas to sweep it around and loose traction a little.
Nope, not a little...a lot! I did a 360 right there at that light. I've only ever done that not on purpose once before with one of my old work trucks,
an S-10 in the pouring rain years ago. After I realized it wasn't coming back, I just went with it, gave a little more gas and did the full 360 and continued
on very "casual" like. There were no cars around and it was 3 wide lanes it happened in so the only issue was looking like a doofus.
Somebody(one of my spectators?) beeped as they drove by when I was in the sushi's lot and parked getting out of the car. About a month and a half into
ownership now so I eventually wanted to test the limits of the cars grip in a secluded area but I had a few audience members that got a show.
16 years of front wheel drive cars have to be trained out of me now. So that's why people say don't touch that button.

Haha. I wiped out within the first week. Was a little rusty after 14 years of FWD. The previous 19 years of RWD came back pretty quickly, though.

My teenage grandson was with me. "That was cool, papa!"

At first I was like "wooo", then I was like "oh no", then I was like "its over, get out of there"!
This was totally dry and I have new Michelin PSS on it so I thought this wouldn't really happen to that degree.
It was definitely too much gas after I was correcting the drift with the traction "off" button being held down for a couple seconds.
Now I wonder what just using the VSC sport button would have let happen in that situation?

With my luck, I would crash the car!

Nah, I do want to try this in a wide, empty parking lot one time. Preferably, one without lightpoles.

Just using the VSC sport button with the gas floored in first on a turn leads to some enjoyable drift like situations around town

Lost it to some black ice on the highway last winter. Did a couple of 360s powered out and kept on going like nothing happened. The van full of teenage hockey players behind me gave a round of applause and "that was cool" at the rest stop we pulled into a bit later. Little did they know I was checking my pants.

I think driving crown vics hard and fast for 8+ hours a day for 5 years was invaluable experience for me that I didn't even realize. Never came close to even sliding a bit (on accident) in the frs.

Glad you're safe keep working on your craft.

The closest thing to an oh shit moment that I've had was down in NC last Fall. It was raining and about 50* out. I had just left my friends place in the morning and made a right turn onto the main road. The side street I was pulling out of was a slight hill rising up to the main road, and I hit the crest of it half way through the turn at about ~15mph (off throttle). The car snapped very wide to the left and then went into a bit of a tank slapper. I managed to keep it pointed in the approximate direction I wanted to go and rode it out but for the brief 4-5 seconds I was worried.

I laughed about it afterwards but my friend was not amused.

Haha, been there. Was turning left on an on-ramp while in Manual mode in first gear and my car's ass swung out hard to the right in front of all the people at the 4 way stop. Was glorious. Even with traction control on I've slid in the rain. That's always fun when you know it's coming. When it just happens it can be unnerving.

I was safe because it was low speed, lots of real estate, and zero traffic. It was a dumbass move but at least no one, or anyone's property was at risk. My grandson and I discussed all this candidly. He's already much less of a thrill seeker than I ever was so he's on a good path.

What a great kid. He asked for permission to tell his friends.
