2015 scion frs rough shifts in automatic transmission

I recently had bought a 2015 frs about a month ago it had 500 miles on it when I bought it and it's at about 2500 now. I don't really abuse the car the most I've done was just accelerate at Red lights. The car shifts perfectly when I'm not in sport mode. But once I switch it and go into sport mode and begin driving the car will Rev up and shift very hard and you can feel it. It sometimes happens and it sometimes doesn't. The problem seems to not happen as much if I turn on sport mode when I first turn on the car. But if I were to switch it on later maybe at a stop it will act up and not shift as cleanly as it could. Any ideas?

It's called sport mode for a reason, supposed to make you puke and stuff. :P

In all seriousness, sport mode holds the car in gear longer than normal. Regarding rough shifts, I've experienced it a few times and chalked it up as normal operations also.

First, check the transmission fluid level to make sure it's where it needs to be.

Also, be sure you're not using sport mode and punching the gas until the fluids in the car are fully warmed up (after a couple minutes of driving).

Otherwise, if the problem persists, at your next dealer appointment have them document the problem in case your tranny has bigger issues later.

Same here, shifting up or down it'll do that so I don't really use sport mode I fear of messing up my little red

I drive it like my old Corolla though! That is, until I hit a twisty or empty straight. Then, it's downshift from 6th to 4th and

It's just weird how sometimes the shifts in sport mode are super clean and sometimes it acts up. Who knows I'll bring it up to the dealership next time Im there.

I think this is a widespread issue with the 2015's. I currently have Toyota canada looking into my car, which has exhibited the same issues. Do your rear wheels lock up on downshifts?

I haven't had any problems with the car and it's downshifting.

^^^ this....

After the turbo install the fluid has to warm up for a crisp 1st to 2nd shift.

Normal for me. Sometimes it happens, most of the time not, completely random. But, most of the time its after the engine is warm (traffic, driving up a hill, ect). I've read changing out the transmission fluid may help.

This is not normal. There is a TSB(Technical Service Bulletin) for this issue. The symptoms occur mostly after using the cruise control on the highway and then turning it off. Then engaging the car in full auto mode. Sport mode on or off does not matter. The car will exhibit hard shifting up and down from gear to gear until the car is turned off and the TCM resets it's self back to normal. The TSB calls for the TCM to be reprogrammed to fix the problem. It only effects auto transmission cars. Manuals do not have this problem. If you need to duplicate the problem for the dealership, drive it with cruise control on for a brief period. Then turn it off. It will start showing the symptoms immediately.

Only thing is I can't find the TSB number any longer. I read it on Face Book as being a common problem. Anyone know where it could be found? If so, we should be able to print it out and bring it to the dealership for an easy fix.

All the stuff that's being spread around facebook and what you just said was figured out by me in this post:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96615

The TSB is here S-SB-0021-15

Read through the thread first then figure out how easy it is, there were a large number of dealers that refused to flash it out of the vin range.
