BRZ vs FRS vs MX-5 vs GTI vs Genesis vs V6 Mustang

Just curious to everyone's thoughts about this comparison. The BRZ didn't finish nearly as high as I thought it would. Granted the track wasn't very ideal to for the better handling cars with the width of the track and amount of straights it had. Also with the Mustang equipped with the track pack and better tires where the BRZ and FRS were still stock hardly seems fair. I'd really like to hear the opinions of those that think the mustang or any other car is superior.

Actually The Streets Of Willow Springs probably favors the FR-S, BRZ, and Miata more than the Mustang and Gen Coupe.

I think it is what it is. If you are looking primarily at performance (horsepower, torque, lap times on a track, etc) it is hard to argue with the Mustang and Gencoupe. If you are looking for a car that is easier to throw around a track then the twins or a Miata are a great choice.

Really comes down to what you want in a car and people that base their purchases off magazine reviews are missing out. Drive them all, buy the one you like the best.

For commentary on that video: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5641

For discussion of the BRZ vs all the cars you mentioned, there's plenty of threads in this sub forum already that compare those vehicles specifically.

By far the BRX is just plain slow..

Any Mod to a Miata and it will lap you.

I would like to see the comparison at Willows again with the same brand/type on the Mustang put on the BRZ. Increasing the quality of the tire pays dividends. When racing I've switched from one race compound (100TW) to another (40TW) and found 1-1.5 seconds. I'd be curious to see what Pobst could do in the BRZ with the P-Zeros. I bet there's a .5 seconds in them.

Honestly though, I'm a bit surprised by the lap time in the Mustang.

I drove FRS at an autocross event and I have to admit that it is a fun car to drive. It felt little bigger than my miata but even in factory spec with factory tires it was still fun to drive. The FRS suspension felt much better(firmer and poised) than the stock suspension on 2006 miata. The steering wheel was perfect size and no nonsense interior was how I would want it in any car. If I was shopping for a new car and had to choose between Miata and FRS, I would buy whichever is cheaper. They are both fun.

GTI understeers and it is heavy.

Mustang feels as big as a barge.

I have no experience with Genesis.

We really comparing modded to stock? In this test, the BRZ is faster than the Miata by nearly half a second: http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/co...results_page_5
