Genesis Coupe VS FRS/BRZ - Canada Edition
Good news guys, looks like Canadians are going to be able to buy the Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-spec for the first time. The price increases are definitely a little ridiculous, the Ford Mustang V6 is now $2500 cheaper than a base Genesis Coupe. The R-spec is only $1300 more in Canada than it is in the US which is pretty amazing really.
New Canadian Genesis Coupe Trim levels and pricing are as such: Canadian Pricing: 2013 Gen Coupe base 2.0T 6 speed manual $24,899-->$26,499 (+$1600) 2013 Gen Coupe Base 2.0T 8 Speed auto $26,399-->28,299 (+$1900) 2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T 6 speed premium Package $27,899-->29,899 (+$2000) 2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T 8 speed auto premium package $29,399-->31,699 (+$2300) 2013 Gen coupe 2.0T 6 speed manual R Spec NEW-->28,799 2013 Gen coupe 3.8 GT 6 speed manual $36,499-->36,999 (+$500) 2013 Gen Coupe 3.8GT 8 speed auto $38,299-->38,799 (+$500) Us Pricing (Only $1500 difference on 2.0T!):

I expect the BRZ to fall in the 2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T 6 speed premium Package price range.

Yup seems about right, 29 to 31k for the premium and 33 to 34ish for limited. Not bad really when you consider that ten years ago a RSX type S or Celica GTS would hit 36k out the door easily.

Especially the performance cars (WRX, 370, etc...) It's a royal rip-off and unjustified greed on dealers' parts. This is reinforced when they tried some bullshit safety/immobilizer lie to prevent us from buying privately from the US and importing ourselves. Greedy fuckers...

Good news for me!
I just purchased a 2012 GenCoupe in December, so with the price increase it should help my car keep more of its value when I sell it to get the FRS/BRZ. Just waiting on final pricing to be released and I'll make my decision. Quote:

well its looking more and more likely that the FRS will come in at around the 26k mark.
Just for perspective if we see what cars we have in the 20's range: Scion tC Is like 21k, the RS7 series is 23-24k Kia Forte coupe is almost the same, i think the range topper is somewhere around 22k. Civic SI is I think 26k Then all other RWD sports cars are at least 30k (I think the Mustang starts off close to the 22k mark but skyrockets beyond 30k as you move up trim levels.) |

I agree 27,500 is too much, after taxes + shipping it comes in around 34k in ontario.
Do we have a list of what the genesis offers VS the FR-S far as features? What makes the FR-S barebones per say? |

Another recent review. Author really liked the car. He's a fellow Canuck too and according my my friend that works for Hyundai's PR Dept, the fastest auto journalist in North America around the wet/dry autocross.
http://www.auto123.com/en/hyundai/ge...1&artid=140874 The option and colour specs should be out this week. |

The question now is rebates. If Hyundai continues to give Canadians the $2400 cash rebates they have had for the last 2 years then I just can't imagine getting an FRS over a 2013 GC 2.0T R-spec.
