car move when shifting to 1st from a stop

Hello guys i own a 2013 toyota 86 and i had this issue since day one i took it from the dealer ( in united arab emirates )
From a stop sometimes when i shift from neutral to first the car roll like an inch and sits back and i can hear and feel like something is hitting when i shift

I informed the tech at the dealer a d they ajusted the clutch for me but it remained same .

Anyone experienced same issue or knows what it might be ( it's my first manual car) .

Note: earlier they replaced my clutch fork but car felt same nothing changed

This happens to me, too. The trick is to push the clutch in, wait a second or two for the transmission internals to stop rotating, then put it in gear. No more clunking or lurching.

from what I understand, it's the drive shaft matching the speed of your engine when you put it into 1st. it's like a thump and if your foot isn't on the brakes, you will move forward a little. holding the clutch in for a few seconds before putting it into 1st will solve it.

You're driveshaft doesn't spin unless you're moving, so it's not that.

It may be the input shaft rotating, or like I said, other transmission internals, but definitely not the driveshaft matching anything.

I remember hearing about some type of shaft moving and matching speeds, which cause the thumping sound and slight lurch. it might be the input shaft.

You can think of the trans as three parts, the clutch the gears before the shift forks and the gears after the shift forks. (I know this is simplistic but let me explain) When you are sitting in neutral with your foot off the clutch pedal (the plates engaged) the gear set before the shift the shift forks are spinning, you push in the clutch (disengage the plates) and try to put the trans into first gear. The input gear set is still turning. The pressure trying to get into first transfers the turning energy through the syncros to the out put side. This moves the car just a little bit. If you have ever driven ridden or watched a no syncro in first truck this is the gear grind you often hear at stop lights. (When driving a no syncro in first trans the solution is to push the shift leaver against second to stop the rotation before going into first.)
If you would like to experiment with our cars, try coming to a stop leaving the shifter in second then move it to first - do not let the clutch pedal out (engaging the plates)- no motion.
[I am carful about the clutch terms as they are a little counter intuitive. An engaged clutch means it is transferring engine power to the trans. Pushing the pedal in is disengaging the clutch plates and not transferring energy.]

It's normal. Don't worry about it.

If you're still inclined to worry about it, get rid of the car. Because it's normal.

Thanks for the replies .. so as i understand its normal and no more worries.

Now just have to follow up with the idle issue.
