Idle raises in reverse

Hey all, just got my FR-S (used '13) and am loving it so far. It really reminds me of the spirit of the S2000, but it isn't so harsh as to make me hate it when I'm on the highway.

Anyways, had a quick question that I have not been able to find via search.

When I am sitting still, clutched in, and shift to reverse the engine seems to raise its idle speed by several hundred RPM. The second I pull the shifter out of reverse it goes back to normal.

This makes it really annoying to back out of my garage after a cold start, and I was wondering if this is normal, or something unique to my vehicle? I guess if this is normal I just have another reason to get the OFT, haha.

This is my 3rd DBW manual, but I've never had this happen before.

(Btw, that cold start in a one car garage is frickin loud)

i dont know about the newest generation of fr-s/brz but i know the '13s brz was more of a road car while the frs had a less forgiving suspension

and yeah i noticed that happens on my car too, i assumed thats how it was tuned :x

I don't notice it in my 2015. Though, I always wait until my revs drop from the cold start 1500 before I take my car out of the garage. I have the stock exhaust so it doesn't bug me lol. my MR2 would drone the shit out of the garage and make things vibrate. don't think my neighbors liked that when I would get home late or leave early.

Thats normal during cold start warmup phase.
It will do it in forwards gears as well as oposed to neutral.
It probably so it does not stall when cold when you put it in gear.

Once warmup is complete it wont do it.

there are tables in ecu you can modify to stop most of it if you have tuning device.

Great, thanks for the replies all. Glad to know this is normal for this car. I'll give it some time and see if I can get used to it, or I'll go with the tune.
