Big truck - Big Rock
Hey guys,
I am new to the forum. Actually I have been reading for a couple of years and joined a month ago. I have a 2013 Firestorm FR-S and today a big rock made a decent dent on my A-Pillar Any suggestions to what I should do? I plan to going to a local Toyota body shops to see my options, as well as a couple other dent repair places. I am afraid there aren't many options to fix it because its on the main body. How much would it cost to fix it, those with a similar experience? I want to try and do it w/o insurance since I do have a 500$ deductible, but I guess that depends on how much it costs. I don't see any way to mask it. And touch-up paint won't be enough. Anyway, I would love some feedback from you guys. |

Oof completely butchered a sentence in there. Forgive my typos, I didn't proof-read.

Well, that's a shame .....
![]() Since it's on the passenger side, you might consider getting some touch up paint, then sand the chipped area gently and use some alcohol to remove all wax. Then find the most artistic member of your family/circle of friends and ask him/her to "touch it up". Wait 3 weeks, if you still "see it" ...... have the pillar repainted..... humfrz |

Hate it when that happens. That kind of thing is covered under the comprehensive side of your auto policy. Depending on your deductible, it may be to high to cover anything. Regardless I'd still get a quote or two from some reputable body shops.

Looks like it went straight to the metal there, that sucks dude.
Touch-up won't be enough, you have to get it pretty thick to make it level, more than just coloring it in. For next time though, I never ever ever ever follow behind dump trucks, garbage trucks, big wheel'ed pick-up trucks or any semi that looks like it's gone off road or has a flat bed with stuff on top that could have picked up debris as it was being loaded on... Or my mortal enemy... The street sweeper. I either blow past them in the loudest, angriest, coolest way possible, or if I'm stuck behind them, I get a lot of space between. I also took preventative measures and put paint protection film on my entire front of my car. -Ryan |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yea I was in the lane next to a truck and stuck between a couple of cars, wish I had slowed down. I will see what a couple of body shops have as to options/cost and then I think I might try to touch it up myself, but like you said I don't think it will be enough because it is also dented. No harm trying though.

Damn. I dropped a heavy-ass rifle case off my shoulder while putting an ammo can into the passenger seat that left a nice dent. I'm learning to ignore it as punishment for being stupid.
Get it fixed well enough to make sure it does not cause any problems, see how you do with that. If you can't stand it, go from there! ETA: Dent removal dudes are getting very good these days. Give that a try s well. |

easily fixable... Let touch paint fill all that damage waiting a day/two. Then sand it smooth with 3000-4000 grits be sure to protect surrounding paint. When it's sanded smooth but looks dull use maguire polish, keep polishing till you achieve the desired result. Last optional step is to wax it
