TRD Spring Install - Alignment
Hello all,
I'll be taking the Jellybean in to a friend's shop, where he'll be installing the following, with the aim of improving grip and handling (which I understand is subjective); the idea is to shoot for "stock plus" if that makes any sense. TRD Lowering Springs SPC Front Camber Bolts Aftermarket wheels, 17x9 +35 (not sure if this is required, added for context) MPSS Tires, 235/45/17 (again, added for context) *note* - I haven't purchased anything to adjust rear camber past factory settings Now to avoid being flamed, I've done my research (including Dezoris's very helpful Alignment FAQ thread)--but throughout these threads I was having a tough time finding a general consensus on what Alignment settings are optimal for this car after being lowered 20mm. The tech who's doing the work usually works on MINI's and STi's (MINIs for work, STi's that he's owned), so I'd like to go in there with some guidance that I can pass on to him to get the most of my setup. Would it be fair to say that the numbers dialed in for Dezoris's FR-S is close to how each corner should be dialed in? Edit: With regard to what the car will be doing, it's a weekend car that will see lots of mountain roads, though I'll occasionally drive to the grocery store or Dunkin' Donuts during the week. I'm also interested in attending some Auto-X sessions, but at this point I'm on the fence. Thanks for the help, and support. |

235/45/17 tires are pretty tall. will look beefy though. id go 245/40 if you get 9" width wheels. or if you go thinner wheels, then 225/45.
when i had a 1" drop with camber bolts, Westend Alignment (you can look them up for their credibility) set my specs to -1.3deg front both sides and rear camber (non-adjustable) came to -1.5-ish deg. car handled great. i was on 245/40/17 tires with 17x9 +38 wheels.

I already have the tires, and did my research beforehand. Gearing will be affected just a tad, but otherwise should be fine.
And I like beefy. ![]() Thanks for the info! |

1" drop on Hotchkis springs with OEM crash bolts, I was only able to get -1° camber up front, and with no correction in the back netted me -2°. Toe is back to 0 all around.
