Oil cooler consensus?

While lurking, I learned that most of you like your oil coolers.

I also learned that there are many types. Air to oil, water to oil...

The two that stand out most to me are Cusco, and Perrin.

Cusco warms the oil up quicker. Though, I don't see many results of it.
And the perrin has a thermostat. But the oil won't warm up any quicker than without a cusco.

For an NA car aggressive street and mild track driving in warm to hot climates the coolant/oil type are ok.

If your boosted or for even aggressive track driving long stints NA in warm to hot climates then the air\oil separate radiator type is needed the OEM coolant heat exchanger types dont have enough capacity.

I have Maximalperfomance oil cooler and it works great for the track.

It's efectively the same as the perrin oil cooler kit but more affordable.

Thanks for the awesome link.
Is it the stock radiator that's limited if one were to go with Cusco's oil cooler?
F20/F22C both have heat exchangers like Cusco. Oil temps aren't really a concern on them.

the stock radiator is fine if NA, but with prolonged hard driving oil temps climb. even with the heat exchanger oil coolers the coolant does not rise but the oil temps still will with sustained hard driving.

The coolant/oil heat exchanger coolers will buy you about 10-15 minutes of sustained hard driving on a hot day.

The air/oil radiator types correctly sized should keep oil temps under control indefinitely.

monitor your oil temps if their getting over 230F to 240F then you should be looking at oil cooler especially if running the stock 0W20 oil, 10W30 give you a bit more security in hot climates or if boosted.

see the video in previoys link.
