Weird Clutch failure !!!

Hello,

A friend wanted to test drive the car. After 10 mints he calls saying the car doesn't want to move!

Went to tow the car. As soon as I arrived I can smell the clutch from a distance.
Anyway, the car starts normal. I can engage any gear I want no problem but the car won't move. That's normal for a burned clutch.
But what was new to me is while the engine is running I can select any gear without pushing the clutch, and rev the engine but the car still won't move

Obviously I will need a new clutch. But is eneything els damaged? What other parts will I need?

Will order an after market clutch kit with new bearing.

think your "friend" needs to be honest about what happened.

Sounds like something clutch related is totally destroyed if you don't need to clutch in to change gears.

you wont know until you get in there.

Pray it's a clutch and not a broken input shaft for the box!

Yes I'm praying that the input shaft isn't broken, and crossing my fingers that the clutch is just stuck.

It sounds to me like maybe the shifter got disconnected from the trans. lever.

There is no way to engage gears while car is running and not hear any weird sounds.

When pressing the clutch any weird sounds?

No weird sound When pressing or releasing the clutch. The clutch feels lighter than before.

When moving the stick you can feel and hear the gears moving.

Bent clutch fork is my guess. I'd take it to the dealer and say you were driving then boom the car stopped. Could get it warranty fixed maybe?

only way to shift while engine is running is if the trans is decoupled from the engine. You also said it's easier to push the clutch. Possible options:
flywheel - broken off or sheared bolts, engine would probably run rough if flywheel was broken off, and you would probably hear the broken studs, bolts, flywheel pieces knocking around.
input shaft - already mentioned, but if broken cleanly it probably has enough room to slide apart and not make any weird noises, but clutch wouldn't feel lighter.
clutch plate - sprung center sheared off from clutch material, would probably bang around broken pieces, but clutch pedal shouldn't be lighter.
pressure plate - unlikely that it came off or that all bolts sheared or came loose but, loose bolts could release pressure on the clutch, causing it to make enough contact to burn but not grab, decouples engine/transmission, also causes easier clutch push; or pressure springs broke, causing same as above.
throwout bearing - somehow jammed halfway in holding the pressure plate almost completely disengaged, enough contact to glaze clutch/burn smell. Already pushed in so less pressure on clutch petal
clutch fork jammed half way in causing the same problem as jammed throwout bearing.
So my best guess for the cause is your friend is a d1ck.

Your "friend" really needs to tell you what exact happened,
and you may want to be in the car while he test drives your car.
