NW 86ers Shooting group

Hey guys decided to put this out there as a fun/educational spring summer activity.

@Chen, @Decay107 and I went out this last weekend and found a pretty week shooting spot out in Tillamook forest and it would be cool to get a group to head out there and hit some targets every once in a while. We could use this as an educational/learning experience as well for anyone that has never shot or learned about gun safety.

I know Richard wants a rifle now that he got to shoot one after only shooting Pistols before.

Just for reference we were able to shoot .45, .38, 5.56x45, 7.62x39, and 7.62x54R which is a good range of bullet size and recoil. The spot is about 50-75 yards and is right off the road. Potential to shoot shotguns as well as their is a nice area behind to shoot clays off of.

We won't be able to get the twins up there unless you have a rally spec'd car so there is that. we can always meet before and all hop in someones truck/beater to get there.

Post here if you are interested...Safety will always be the main priority if you have never shot before we can teach you the basics and we won't put a .30-06 rifle in your hands till we know you can handle the smaller caliber stuff.

I am a certified firearms instructor and could offer some pointers. If people want to shoot my guns, they can just bring some ammo. I am also a member at Tri-County Gun Club and can bring 3 guests at a time for free.

Potentially down as long as we don't have to go off road.

The tillamook forest spot is near browns camp and requires some "off"road driving it's paved but not great

Thats pretty awesome I was trying to figure out how to gt in there and just gave up...I would also love to get some pointers I'm decently accurate with my AR15 and iron sights (not even sighted in yet) but want to get better as far as target shooting and stuff like that

Nice! I also looked at membership there for a while, but it seemed they were always full. They have a long rifle range right? I'd love to see what my 91/30 can do outside of 200 yards.

There is some definite off roading with large potholes, I wouldn't take my 86 up there. That being said plenty of people on here have trucks or beaters and we could carpool up.

However it was shooters that supposedly started last year's fire out there. Not sure if regs have changed

As someone who grew up very close to a farm, I can tell you that shooting shit isn't all it's cracked up to be. Basically it's just smelly dirt that breaks up into smaller pieces of smelly dirt. Far more fun to shoot targets, cans, and clays.

Their wait list is over a year long and their rules have changed quite a bit. Still worth having a membership there though.
