New FR-S - Car Insurance

My car insurance bill was $30+ more monthly than I was originally quoted. I was quoted only $20 more a month over the Camry XLE I was driving, but just got the bill and it was much higher. Did anyone here go from a 4-door family car to the FR-S and see a huge increase? I was expecting an increase, just not sure if I should be concerned about it being this high. Not sure what the norm is.

too many variables to give an exact reason for car insurance.

that said, i had a 2008 e92 328i and when i switched to my FRS, my insurance premium stayed pretty much the same

I went from paying $580 a year to $885.00 a yr when I bought my FRS. But then again my other Scion only had liability. My FRS has full coverage now but the bastards charged me $40.00 more cause I had a frickin cell phone violation which isn't a moving violation in Hawaii. In other words just having that ticket made the insurance company just charge more anyway.

If it was something that you were doing while you were driving, then yes, it is a moving violation.

Ummm....no the insurance company and the police officer told me it's not a moving violation in the state of hawaii....also the cell phone law states the cell phone has to be on the other car seat or on a hands free device....I was on speaker phone with ph on my lap....paid $147.00 which was a expensive lesson...police told me a lot of people don't know the law and think the phone on the lap is okay while on speaker....a new law went into effect last July 2014 that a person with cell phone ticket violation now has to go to traffic court....ticket now is over $200.00....

Yeah, same here, about $30 more. I have Geico and with the FR-S full coverage, my 90 Miata and 94 B3000 with both only liability mine is $130. Before that I had an 03 Altima (4 door) with full coverage and it was $99 with the other 2 vehicles.

Are you sure it's not just the first month that's higher? If you swapped cars in the middle of the billing cycle, sometimes they prorate it on the first bill. My first bill was about $40 more than the rest of my monthly payments.

Typically first payments on a new insured car is going to be slightly higher for prorating issue.

I went from an Lexus IS to my FRS. Lexus insurance was 100$ full coverage. I have had no accidents and was with AllState 6 years no missed payments. Purchased my FRS insurance wanted $220 a month. Yeah they were smoking rocks. Currently with USAA now paying $120 for full coverage.
