Dash Lights on Galore!
We recently got a lot of snow and had to baby my 13'FR-S home (I spun out twice but thats part of the fun lol).
Well basically by the time i got home the following lights were on: Traction Control (not the toggle) Check Engine Light Brake ABS I tried turning the car off for a few minutes and turned it back on and all that was left on was the Check Engine light. I spent the next day shoveling and did not start or move my car. This morning I turned her on to go to class and the following lights were on: Check Engine Brake ABS Traction Control After driving for a few hundred feet the ABS, Brake and Traction control came off but the Check Engine Light is on. Ill see if the lights turn back on when I leave but does anybody have any clue as to what this is, my scanner is currently no available to me at the moment. I figure that working my car so much in the snow threw the ECU for a loop and it just needs sometime to reset but I'm no sure...??? |

Snow and ice can play havoc with the sensors. You could try disconnecting the battery to clear the ECU. If they continue just take it in and get it checked as it may just be something out of whack from the spin outs.

I had a Check Engine Light after spinning out at an ice driving event a month ago or so. It was a MAF issue. A fellow 86'er reset it after informing me that they're usually no big deal. It hasn't come back. Most auto parts stores will lend you a code reader. Borrow one, read the code, and look it up on your smartphone in the parking lot. Clear the code if you judge that to be an appropriate action.
Also, get some winter tires before you really hurt yourself, your car, or someone else. They make this car so very drivable in the snow. I got mine installed for around $600 total. You can do way more than that much damage to the car.

I had the same lights in the snow, with no power steering, speedometer didn't work, car wouldn't shift in reverse. Shut car off, restart, all lights were off except for the check engine light. That went off a few hours later. No problems since. This was last week

I spun off the track and did a couple of 360s into the grass (NEVER LIFT!) and the car stalled and wouldn't even start for a full minute or so. When it finally did the CEL was on. I puttered back to the grid and disconnected the battery and let it sit for ten minutes. Hooked everything back up and it was good to go. It's been close to a year now and it never came back.

I was all fired up to have my iPad be a one-stop shop for all this crap. Ordered an actual ScanTool dongle, even. Sad face until I learned that Apple is so special that their Bluetooth is so special it won't connect with the rest of the worlds standard.
There are a number of apps for Apple, though, that are similar to Carista. |

The only work around for that is getting a device that's Wi-Fi enabled. Or, do you have a fairly recently Android phone lying around? Even if it's not activated on your cellular carrier you can still connect the phone to the device via Blue Tooth and the phone to the internet via Wi-Fi (assuming you have internet connection sharing/mi-fi/home wireless router nearby). |
