3-port boost solenoid VAC help?
2/14/15 Update: Alright guys the problem I'm having is I'm overboosting way over the wastegate's spring rate. I currently a precisioun turbo wastegate (39mm) with the red and natural small springs (6.9lbs) and am reaching 16psi before fuel/boost cut kicks in... which is way over the target boost. Until I get this sorted I and Jamesm are dead in the water on the tunning front. Any ideas?
VAC lines are like this: Back of the Intake Manifold tee's off to the BOV and a Boost Gauge. Turbo boost source (nipple on turbo's compressor housing) goes to EBCS and then to the lower wastegate vac souce. The top of the WG is vent to atmosphere. And the EBCS's last port goes to the intake like in the diagram. ![]() old:Hello all, wanted to double check if I understand this correctly. Currently Vac is: T- off intake to a 5port vacuum manifold, that then T-'s off to the wastegate, another bov ports and another to the boost gauge. The instructions for the grimspeed ebcs state: one port to turbo (before throttle) and one port to the top of the wastegate and one port below the wastegate. I don't have a existing nipple/port or a location to tap on the garrett turbo. Do I need to tap a charge pipe or can I use vacuum/boost from the 5port vacuum manifold?

You can use vacuum from the manifold, but that boost level will be different than the level right at the turbo as there is a PSI loss through the piping and intercooler before it gets to your intake manifold and then your vacuum manifold. If you want to tap something, I would tap the thicker turbo outlet versus your charge pipe.

Tapped the compressor housing and now overboosting :O (see original post for update) thoughts?

You can see how I have mine done here:
![]() All my boost sources are off that vacuum manifold versus tapping the Garrett housing. So I have one line going from the vacuum manifold to the wastegate and another line going from the vacuum manifold into the MAC solenoid and out the other side and going to the wastegate. If you have your boost lines hooked up correctly, then it has to be a wiring issue. Are you sure the solenoid is getting power and the signal wire is connected properly to the ECU since I assume you are using EcuTek to control it.

What happens when you use your new boost reference location directly to the wastegate?

Could someone send a photo or example on where to get vacuum from the intake/inlet for turbocharge car?

Just to be clear, are you hooking up the numbered ports in the order shown? Your post says "one port to turbo... and one port to the top of the wastegate..." etc... This makes it sound like the ports are interchangeable, they are not. I'm assuming you know this but it doesn't hurt to ask

Yeap, thats for port 3. But im confused about the intake/inlet side, port 1 of the solenoid.
