^in one of the articles it mentions provisions for a driveshaft down the middle in the carbon tub. So its possible rwd/awd but possible they might run it fwd.
With enough engineers they can make fwd work, how competitive or fast it will be is a mystery. I am still pretty impressed with the zeod rc/delta wing they ran a while back. LMP1 LM I expect something like this

Yes.
Imagine a 2014 LMP1 car, but rotated 180 degrees. Now imagine that same car with a huge aerodynamic advantage in the form of significantly reduced rear drag (via the pass-thru aero), plus tiny rear tires plus 8MJ class of hybrid power. Each 2MJ is worth roughly 0.5sec at Le Mans. Remember: this was meant to compete at Le Mans. The #1 overall goal was to reduce drag, 20% of which was produced by the rear wing. The car may very well end up in June with no rear wing and a modified rear diffuser that produces all the downforce the car needs, ala Deltawing. -alex |

My first generation Acura Integra used to go through the snow better in reverse, so why can't a LeMans LMP1 racer go faster around the course backwards faster?
I know, Nissan could take a normal LMP1 car and run it in reverse. They just have to switch the body around so it faces backwards too. Oh, and don't forget the driver. They wouldn't want him to go around posterior backwards, the entire car already does that for him. Oops, almost forgot the gearing. Must modify the gearbox. You know, like the special ones in the older Iraqi tanks that have two forward gears and 6 in reverse.

Interesting ideas. I wonder if being so far back affects the driver's visibility/confidence in placing the car...

Whether it works or not it incredibly ugly.
![]() ![]() If anyone cam make this work it is probably Dan Gurney. His 1993 Toyota Gurney GTP car still holds the track record for qualifying at the Daytona 24 Hours by a significant amount.

Given that they want to compete at Le Mans, and given the current LMP1-H rules... how would one go about creating a car that is competitive against Audi/Porsche/Toyota, who all (more or less) have the EXACT SAME CAR?
Given that no one has been able to realistic get a running car in the 8MJ hybrid class, and since aero is such a big part of Le Mans... why not? I really enjoy reading Mike Fuller's Mulsanne's Corner. Quote: Quote:
