Maintenance Schedule

Hi guys,

I just hit 15,000 on my 2014 BRZ and according to the Subaru Dealership it's time for a "Intermediate Service" which will cost me around $349.99.

Is this a typical price when maintaining a car? Are there any other shops in the Bay Area that I will get a better bang for my buck?

Advice is appreciated.

I think the 15k service is an oil change and inspection of a bunch of things. Figure $100/hr shop rate + cost of oil and filter... and I think you are just about at $350. Might be able to get the shop to do it it cheaper though.

Isn't that service free? Or is that just Scions?

From what I know the Toyota dealership usually throws in maintenance and Subaru doesn't, at least not in California.

To the OP, you will typically get charged a higher rate at the dealership. I would recommend just calling/going to the dealership and asking what exactly they will be doing for the service, then using that list to either get quotes from other shops or looking into doing it yourself (if you are so inclined )

Just Scion, Subaru has a thing where you can pre-purchase maintenance service but not one that is included.

15k is really just oil change and inspections. Hit up a local shop (SpeedElement, Mann, Edge, EQ, etc) to do the work. Probably will be a decent amount cheaper.
