time to spend some money. Help me out so i only buy once...

Iv finally decided its time to spend some money on the car since hey, I don't have anyone to support anymore...

I purchased a set of 17x8.25 XXR 527's a few months back and have been waiting for my stock tires to wear out. Its just about that time now. I don't want to put not he new wheels without lowering the car first. I don't particularly care for adjustability so I don't really want coilers. I had coilers on an old bimmer and it would have been great if I felt like paying someone to professionally set them up...Im a cheap bastard and am not willing to pay someone to do an install like that. So I would like to stick with lowering springs for now.

I think 1" is low enough as I am sticking with stock shocks for now. Will i still need camber bolts for just a 1" drop? And do you need camber bolts for just the front, or back as well? Is there anything else I should be getting to go along with the springs?

You can get the OEM camber bolt for like 10 bucks. Do a search on here for the part number or get it when you get your springs from your suspension vendor.

With a 1 inch drop, you can go either way on rear camber adjustment (which would either be rear LCAs or the rear Whiteline camber bushing). I personally would do something but I'm pretty anal about alignment. Many just leave it and it's fine.

1 inch is okay on stock shocks. We have our RCE Yellow springs which are a 20mm drop (tiny bit less than an inch) and include replacement bumpstops. If you really want an inch, Eibach Prokit are a good set as well.

How important would rear lower control arms be? If it makes a big enough difference, I am willing to spend the money on them, I was just under the impression you really only needed those if you were lowered a good amount or on coilovers.

You'll want as mentioned above the camber bolts and possibly a set of control arms as your camber will be off with even just a 1" drop. I'm around there and have 2.5 camber on the rears, that's natural without any correction so if you want to bring back to OEM specs then you'll need them.

Lilke Andy said, you should be totally fine without rear LCAs.

At -1" drop, most ppl I know with springs run without aftermarket LCAs too. You should have about -1.5 to -2.0 camber in the rear which if you have low offset wheels (IIRC your XXRs are around 35et) it will help to "tuck" the top of the tire so it's flush to the fender (it will look good). RCE you will probably be very happy with RCE Yellows.

1" drop on Hotchkis springs for me, and I have OEM camber bolts maxed out to get -1° camber up front, nothing in the back and its at -2°. The toe up front was a mess, so be sure to get it aligned, wait only long enough for the springs to settle in.

i have the hotchkis springs and camber bolts up front too. 1" drop all around, -1.3deg camber up front, -2deg camber in the rear. aesthetically, i wish it was a half inch lower, but in reality and actual driving, i think it's perfect.
