TRD Trunk Spoiler fitment issues

Hey guys,

I deleted the big OEM wing and mounted the TRD trunk spoiler yesterday on my European spec GT86. I noticed, that the bottom part of the spoiler, just above the Toyota emblem, is not flush fitting to the trunk. Also I interpreted the Japanese manual to not use the delivered sealing gasket in that area. Is it supposed to be like this?

BTW, that's how the beauty looks now

Is it possible to buy the wing you took off your car?

Unfortunately I traded the whole trunk with a guy who had the small OEM spoiler (because of the screw holes). So what's left now is the small spoiler.

Is the trunk you traded for that had a spoiler on it an authentic TRD spoiler? or is it a replica?

Ok - I suppose I have to get this straight.

I traded this trunk

for that trunk

and removed the OEM spoiler, because I baught and mounted the genuine TRD ducktail. (Don't mind the colors those are only examples - to lazy to upload actual pics of my car)

Are you sure of the interpretation? I would think you should have the gasket all the way around.

The rubber gasket doesn't go all the way around, it's supposed to stop exactly as in your photos. In fact, there's a notch around the edge of the spoiler to allow room for the gasket to fit underneath the edge...and that notch stops where the gasket stops.

Don't know why yours doesn't fit flush in the lower middle area. Mine fits fine and it's a genuine TRD piece, your's looks genuine too. Are the bolts tightened enough to pull it against the trunk? That's the only thing I can think of, or perhaps the trunk is slightly warped, but that would show up with an ill fitting center piece where the license lights are located.

Ignore it and enjoy the look of the new spoiler!

The bolts are tightend pretty well and you can see the spoiler sits flush where the bolts are located.

It looks nice and clean, but it bothers me, that there might come moisture and debris in between the trunk and the spoiler.

Good to know. I have been waffling on whether or not to get the TRD spoiler.

Does it stick in this area to the trunk? When I push with my finger i can actually bend this area inward a little bit. It doesn't seem like the adhesive tape on the spoiler is touching the trunk.
