Coilovers ping only when cold outside

I have Stance coils. Put them on in the summer and got the preload set right and had no pinging. Now that winter is here and its colder they start to ping. Whenever its 15-30 degrees outside they ping but if it gets above 45-50 they don't. The colder it is the more they do it. Is this normal and is it damaging anything? I've never had this problem before with other aftermarket coilovers. I've researched and saw people using washers on the endlinks and upgrading the bearings but I couldn't find anything due to it being weather related.

Ping how so?

Ping like Red October, standing still?
Ping when you turn?
Ping when you drive in straight line?

Would help if you actually described what you are doing with the car when it makes the noise.

most mcpherson struts do this when its cold. im not sure what it is, i just know ive had it every mchperson strut car ive been in that has after market coilovers. my guess is its the coil binding as the strut pivots.

Torrington Bearings solved my spring bind (wind) noise. I went with the ones from Fortune-Auto -- about $98 with s/h.
