Customizable features

Just got my BRZ. Very satisfied, but there are a few things that could be better. Primarily I would love it if all the damn buzzers were set to 0 volume or turned off completely.

In section 6-2 of the manual it states that all of these features can be changed but only at the dealer. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Which buzzers do you want turned off?

The shift light beep can be turned off by you. I'm not sure about seatbelt chime, but you can try putting the car in ON and then engaging and removing the driver's seatbelt buckle 20 times in 30 seconds. That's how to disable it for Subarus.

Anything else, I'm not sure on. You could find the buzzer and put some tape over the speaker hole. That will muffle most chimes.

I agree, I know my dodge has features I've had to take it to the dealership for to enable/disable. Was hoping there would be some crazy key sequences to do that on the BRZ.

Can't recall what I read in the manual yet, but the one thing I don't want is the alarm activation chirp. Those drive me crazy!

Am I too suspicious, or is this a gullible test?

People are too suspicious these days.

And I've done it myself. It's the official procedure to disable the chime. After doing this, it will beep a few times and then stop.

Again, I have NO idea if this will work with the BRZ/FR-S. I haven't tested it, and considering how much of the body electronics come from Toyota, I'm not too confident that it will work. But since it's so easy to do, I figure it won't hurt to try.

The customizable features listed in Section 6-2 have to be done at the dealer via the SSM3

Yeah, I tried it on my BRZ and it didn't work either. I wasn't confident that it would, but figured it was worth the try.

Of course, first pull this cover off, I suspect all models will have it:

Pull it toward the front of the car to pop it off, be careful so you don't bend the crap out of it.

Unplug and wrap up the middle plug:

Irritant eliminated!
