Head Unit Randomly shuts off and restarts during drive

So i couldn't find anything on this but it's done it twice on the same drive now. Driving along listening to some tunes when suddenly the music cuts out. Look down and i see the welcome screen flashing as the head unit is restarting and the music starts again.

I'm already taking care of a leaky tail light and minor side window scratches at the dealer so I'm going to mention this to them, although i already know it seems like a strange intermittent wiring short that will probably be difficult to trace but i was wondering if anyone else has had this issue either with the OEM BRZ head unit or any others. I've never heard of this being a common issue.

For additional information:
i have a 13 brz with stock OEM head unit and have a little sansa clip plugged into the usb slot (although i doubt that has to do with the entire unit restarting)

I thought I had seen this here before, and here it is:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1746260
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1797253

Maybe the solution regarding the USB stick outlined in those threads will fix your issue. If not, you might want to post in the Electronics/Audio/Nav forum.

BTW, whenever you want to search the forum, DON'T use the built-in search on this message board. It sucks and will not give you what you're looking for. Instead, use Google and restrict the search to this site using the "site:ft86club.com" tag. For example, I was able to find the threads above by going to Google and typing this:

site:ft86club.com head unit restarts

and

site:ft86club.com head unit shuts off

Good luck!

I had this happen twice today. never happened before - i've owned the car since march '13. it's happened before on our outback though. it just shut off and rebooted, going through the set up menu. i checked the fuses and everything looked kosher. i'll see if it does it again, and more often. i'm using the same USB stick for music i've used for over a year, and no issues. no folders on the stick - just files.

Factory reset radio

Reset your radio and navigation setting to factory. That fixed my issue.

Used to happen every month or two for me, usually when driving slowly/pulling into driveways...not sure why. I took my HU out and unplugged and replugged everything. No recurrence yet, but it's only been maybe a month and a half.
