Halo Light Logic Modification?

So it looks like the halo lights will only come on under two circumstances: if you have the lights set to parking lights mode or if the actual headlights are on.

I'd like to have the halo lights running at all times, in all cases for these reasons:
  • They look hella baller
  • They're higher up than the DRLs and I feel like they'd do a better job of serving the DRLs' purpose (getting attention so people don't wreck into you)

These are the problems with driving with parking light mode:
  • Orange corner lights also on (some might not consider this a problem)
  • No automatic headlight functionality -- you'll have to switch them to on or auto when it's dark out
  • You have to remember to shut them off when you get out of the car lest you come back to a dead battery

How hard do you guys think it'd be to make the halo lights run in all cases?

You would just need to isolate the halo lights. If you cut the wires, and run a power wire that comes on with the ignition as well as a ground, you'd be all set. I'm not familiar with the car wiring yet, but ideally it would be nice to find the junction/plug where they plug inside the car, which would make this MUCH easier! I need to download the service manual, then I might be able to help.

hm... maybe I'll get rid of the foglights and wire it into the fog light switch on the headlight stalk

I really like this idea and for those of us that are getting MT, I would love if you smart guys could figure out and write up a DIY on hooking it up to this...

For that you'd do the same as Lil Abner suggested, Isolate the Halo's, only instead of wiring them straight to ignition you'd route them from the ignition to a switch then to the halo's.

I like the idea of wiring the halo's to be on in all situations.

If anyone knows where to get a copy of the service manual let me know!

yeah, I just don't understand why Subaru didn't just wire them to be on all the time. That would look so much better.

Spent some time trying to figure out the logic via the fuse box/relays without rewiring it on a AT car, and honestly, couldn't figure out an easy way to do it. This is the first time I gave up on something like this.
