AMP wiring help for tablet install
I am currently in the process of installing my nexus 7 tablet in my car as a replacement headunit. I am having some trouble with the wiring and unable to find the correct/any information. My plan is to use a USB DAC with my nexus 7 which will run directly to an amplifier, no headunit installed. I will keep the OEM speakers for right now, until I buy a 2-way component set for the front and new speakers for back.
Here is where I am having my issues. How do I wire the amp to the speakers? My amp is in my trunk, so I ran 4 sets of speaker wire to behind the stock headunit (will be removed). Can i just buy a wiring harness and just wire the speakers that way? Or do i need to bypass the OEM amp or crossovers? |

Your going to need an aftermarket amp, the stock one will not do what your trying to do. wire signal from your DAC to an aftermarket amp, then on to speakers as per normal. You could wire the amp to a metra kit then to the stock HU harness. I don't recommend as it will actually complicate the thing in the long run, but you could.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I already have an aftermarket amp. It is currently wired to the USB DAC from the nexus 7. I was mainly curious of the easiest way to wire that amp to the OEM speakers. I already ran speaker wire from amp to the headunit location. Are all the necessary speaker wires loacted behind the dash, and do i need to do anything with the OEM amp?

then you need to wire those speaker wires to a Metra 70-1761. it will connect to the stock HUs connectors
the factory amp.. you could bypass it but then you might damage the speakers, it has a low pass filter built in, probably best to leave it there for now.

removing the stock Head unit will disable some of the factory speakers.
the factory amp in the trunk of the car does not power all the speakers. |
