Help with Wiring/Amp Install
I have a 2014 FRS with the bongiovi 'upgrade'.
I want to install an amp and sub in the back. I've read the numerous posts on here about tapping a high level input of the rear amp, and that's the way I want to go. I would like to keep it as clean/reversible as possible. From the various posts, I think I need to buy a Metra 70-1761 and a Metra 71-1761, and then splice a few wires off the middle to get the high level inputs, and remote to send to the amp. Thing I'm not sure about is which wires exactly are the ones I need? Assuming I don't repin (as I'm not really too concerned about matching colors) and I splice the 70-1761 to the 71-1761 (to make a 'patch' harness), which five wires would I splice off to get my four high levels and the remote??? Look up any 1986+ toyota radio wiring diagram, For the pinouts...
Most factory scion head units already have rca outputs on the back of the units. (My 2005 xb, 2010 xb, even my 2013 frs.) As for the remote turn on wire just use the acc. Power wire |

Thanks for the reponse.
The 2014 FRS doesn't have rca outs (at least mine doesn't). The two plugs going into the rear amp have unusually colored wires. I can't really make sense of them. There are a couple which are obvious, but a bunch I'm not sure about. Does anyone have a diagram/color coding chart that explains this? |

use this thread:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42239 this thread will tell you how to replace factory amp with one that's got a little more umph. if that's not what your going for then easiest and least impactful way is to get both the male and female harness wire direct across and in the middle of that harness Y wire RCA outs. full stock functionality plus high level RCA outs in the back.
