Guitarists? 2x12 cab fit in the back?

I know i can't fit my 4x12 cabinet in the trunk, but has anyone tried a 2x12?
Or any combos loud enough to gig with?

a 2x12 should work if you fold the rear seats down. I never tried it as I only have 1x12 combo amp. One Fender Mustang and Orange Tiny Terror Combo!

I rented the Traynor YBA-1 reissue halfstack with the 2x12. I used our 4runner when I rented it, and tried the FRS when it was time to return it - it didn't fit in the FRS even with the seats down. Too much width. On a side note, the amp was a tone monster! Traynor makes great amps.

Depends on the venue. I mean you could plug into the pa right?.... Jk

Depends on the cab. If it's a small 2x12 I can see maybe fanagling it in there. If it's an oversized like a bogner 2x12.... No.

I'm pretty sure you could fit a hot rod deluxe and from the way it looks a twin in there. Might need help lifting it so you won't murder the bumper of you drop it.

I put a Prosonic all tube 2x10 combo in the trunk the other day. I put it in parallel to the car, not sideways. It fit with a couple inches. I'd think a 2x12 would fit in the trunk sideways. It should definitely fit in the back seat. A Hardshell guitar case may fit in the trunk but the opening is a bit narrow. Got a Strat in there but my PRS case got wedged in the opening.

Getting a large cab to fit might require lowering the back seat and loading it in from the passenger door, then sliding it in to the trunk. Just make sure it clears the opening - I think it's 13"?

Pretty sure tube amps don't like drifting ;-)

I have fit my Mesa 2x12 in the backseat, but never tried fitting it in the trunk since that's where I typically put my amps. I will have to take some measurements and try sliding it in the trunk. I might have to do it from the back seats thought.

There's plenty of space inside a Toyobaru, the tricky bit is finangling it through the miniscule trunk opening. Best option is to move the passenger seat forward and slide it in through the passenger door.

With the rear seats folded down of course, or like maperformance above sit it in the rear seats. With the seats up I have trouble getting a guitar case in so that would imply that maperformance has his axe riding shotgun...

Well to answer my own question...

Marshall 1936 fits perfectly (as in just). It even fits in the trunk with the seats up if you turn it around once it's in.

Owned an Ultra and a II. Great effects... hugely overrated modeling. Sold them both.

Own a Kemper now. Much better. :P

(Also own a mesa 4x12, 2x12, Peavey 5150, and EVH 5150 III though lols)

no way. what did you use for amping and cabs? thats definitely a bigger deal than the axe itself. the kemper sounds easier to use but the flexibility of the axe is crazy. i have no idea how it could get better.

Through a 5150 III power section into a mesa 4x12 and also direct in to my interface for recording. It's not bad. Don't get me wrong. The cleans and effects are great, but those can be had elsewhere just as well for recording (DI + EQ & compression + SoundToys effects) and I just wasn't happy with the distorted sounds. I mean, in reality, it just uses impulse responses. There are good cheap/free amp sims out there that can load your own impulse responses and sound just as good, TSE X50 2.0 being the best.

That's just me though. When it comes to guitar, I want crystal clean jazz/fusion tones, balls to the wall metal tones, and trippy spatial effects... and I don't care for much else. haha. I could see guys that play all clean or low gain being happy with it... but the Kemper pulls off the metal tones more convincingly without sounding like the overly noise-gated, stiff, super artificial "djent" tone everyone with an Axe-FX uses.

I'm surprised at the amount of guitar nerds on this forum, by the way. Didn't think there'd be any here. haha

i kinda see where youre coming from. the axe has too much depth and you really have to dig for some of those tones. i really think you might have been limiting yourself with that power section though. one of the things i learned with my frfr speaker and now decent headphones is how much of a difference the power section and speakers make. having control over those has proven much more powerful than changing the preamps alone. ive never used a kemper though so there might be something to it but as far as i read, its just a lot easier to get to where youre going.
