Necessary gauges

Hello,

I'm running a 9psi Vortech setup on my frs, with the OFT interface.

Planning to track soon.

What gauges do you recommend for oil temperature, oil pressure, boost gauge, and coolant temp.

Brand and vendor recs would be appreciated.

Also, am I missing any essential gauges?

Also, what is the best way to log this data?

Thank you!

Mods move to forced induction

The AEM truboost gauge gives AFR (vital) and boost (vital)

There's the innovate MTX gauge that does oil temp &/or pressure I can't remember.

Then the coolant gauge (can't remember who makes that one)

you can use the OFt to display any 3 of the monitored parameters in a "big guage" format.

The OFT will also support an AEM wide-band input on the second o2 sensor with appropriate AEM sensor/controller and wiring harness, just select log parameter "Wideband AFR"

OFT will log up to 12 data channels of the 30 available log parameters

see OFT TIPS thread link below.

In order of importance (my two cents): AFR, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Boost, Water Temp (which is already on your dash). AEM Wideband Failsafe can display both boost and AFR in one gauge.

If you really think you're actually gonna be looking at the gauges while you're going around the track, you really should only need coolant and oil temp. Boost and AFR will change too fast for you to keep track of other than on a long straight, otherwise you should be looking at the track. Coolant and oil temp generally creep up and you'll be able to quick check them to see if they are getting out of hand so you can take it easy and get off the track.

But since no one here listens, go ahead and get one of every gauge, that way you can say "racecar" and not actually know what half of the information actually means other than "shit's broke"

Do you really need boost and a wideband on a S/C car? Its not like a turbo where boost can change and therefore the AFRs should be fine too if tuned well. TBH the AFR on the stock O2 will be good enough for ballpark figures to know if its too lean.
