Torque spec for rear brake bleeder valve?
Does anyone know what the toruque specification for the rear brake's bleeder valve is? I think I've been under tightening it (used a torque wrench on my AP kit's valve and was was quite under torquing them).

"Snug" - Sorry I don't know but I've never once torqued a brake bleeder. Just make it tight, it doesn't need a lot of torque. I'd guess 10-15ft-lbs at most.

Yeah, the AP racing bleeders are 12.5 ft/lbs so that sounds about right though a specific spec rating would be awesome for precision/assurance.

Since we are on the topic, does anyone use speed bleeders? I was thinking of getting some but I don't know if they would actually help since it seems the only trouble I have bleeding my brakes by myself is air getting by the threads, not back in through the hose.

I'm lazy and use the Motiv. When I installed my AP calipers it made it a breeze. I've had good luck with speed bleeders in the past though, just don't over torque them because they'll snap off.
Word of caution on torquing the bleeders, don't use a big ass torque wrench. Unless you have one that reads from like 0-30ft-lbs, it's not going to be accurate at 6ft-lbs. Just make them snug. |
