Red Plastic Box found stuck by front pipe

Hey guys,
I was installing mud guards on my BRZ and while I was looking under my car I found this red plastic box with a plus sign on it. It looks pretty messed up and it was wedged in between the front pipe and skid plate. Anyone know what this is and if it is important?
Thanks

Positive battery cover. Good thing your car did not explode.

Its a battery terminal cover. Either yours fell off or one fell off somewhere in the assembly line and got into your car.

it goes on your battery terminal and prevents idiots from leaning on the positive side of the battery while looking in the engine compartment.

I'll be yet another person to agree/confirm that is the positive battery terminal cover.

Haha well sounds like everyone can agree on this one! Thanks so much. It was in such a random spot. Glad it didn't explode ;-)

Funny, same thing happened to me about a year ago. I had this annoying rattle that I could not track down, then one day I went to change the transmission fluid, took off the under tray, and the melted cover fell out. I had my hood up many times and didn't even notice it gone!

Yea it was mine! Haha that is funny. It also explains why I smelled burning plastic earlier. Thanks so much everyone. I did survive. My car did not cause a nuclear explosion. :-P

So my question is now: "Why/how did it get where you found it?!"

You're all wrong. It's the Positive battery cover.

It's just a cover why would it cause the battery to explode. Cars haven't had battery terminal covers for decades. Worst case the plastic catches on fire.

without that cover, all the electrons can escape from the positive terminal of the battery and accumulate in the engine compartment. If they hit the exhaust pipe they can cause a chemical reaction that ends up splitting the atom and it's all over.
